Position Summary...

The Sr. Manager, Data Science will lead a team of Data Scientists and Media Analysts that focus on development of innovative business intelligence tools, statistical models, experimentation, development of measurement solutions, member-centric custom analytics, and expert consultation to business stakeholders. This role supports Sam's Club's advertising wing, MAP (Media Access Platform).



MAP is a very fast growing and area important to Sam's overall strategy. This role would serve a vital role working with the MAP sales team and third-party suppliers to determine out how to deliver the most effective ads to members. The role requires visionary thinking, hands on analytics skills, working knowledge in statistical and business intelligence tools, coding, and automation, media domain experience, business acumen, problem solving skills as well as strong communication and presentation skills.

What you'll do...

What you’ll do:

  • Manage and develop a data science team in the United States
  • Lead the measurement of media campaign results, and lead the formation of recommendation guidelines based off those results
  • Manage and perform hands-on modeling and complex analyses using Python, Databricks SQL and/or R.
  • Manage and develop dashboards using PowerBI and Tableau.
  • Explain complex analytics outputs in simple terms to stakeholders.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and sales stakeholders to develop novel data science solutions that help guide decision making and generate insights that form the foundation for cost savings and increase in revenue.
  • Continuously engage with senior leadership and stakeholders to ensure alignment and manage interdependencies.

What you’ll bring:

  • Prior experience in data science and analytics.
  • Significant background in media
  • Strong communication skills to ‘tell a story’ that provides insight into the business.
  • Proficient coding skills (SQL/Python/R) and database knowledge.
  • Subject matter expert in dashboard development and visualizations (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI).
  • Knowledge of modeling, for instance ability to create a propensity score model.
  • Strong project management skills, including managing technical resources and multiple priorities & milestones.
  • You have a passion for working in a fast-paced agile environment.
  • A collaborative mindset and sense of curiosity
  • Good business acumen

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 3: 7 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
