Airbus is looking for a Group Manager - IOT & BIG DATA   to join the Bangalore, India location.

As an IoT Group Manager you will be a part of Airbus IOT Team  working on Airbus IoT platform. The Airbus IoT platform is used worldwide on all our core business (logistics, quality ...) .

There is more than 30k connected objects going from humidity temperature sensor to tracking position etc

Big Data Platforms is a revolutionary digital platform for the aviation industry, developed by Airbus in partnership with Palantir. Big Data Platform uses modern, cutting edge technologies to leverage the hidden value of data and to support aviation actors in taking data-driven decisions and optimizing their daily operations. Big Data Platform does so by ingesting over 150,000 datasources daily and organizing them into an universal data model that we call the  Ontology. On top of the Ontology, Big Data  provides its customers with access to a vast array of powerful tools that allows them to drill down, explore data, build interactive dashboards and front-ends perform advanced data analysis using Machine Learning, build predictive models, carry out simulation scenarios across complex models mimicking real-world industrial situations and so much more.

This open position specializing in Cloud technologies(AWS/Azure), Database Technology(DB) & positioned within the team of Airbus IOT & Big Data  Platform.

Group Manager - IOT & BIG DATA is part of the Digital Platforms Group under Digital function. He/She is responsible for the day to day management of the IOT & BIG DATA teams which are located within the Airbus Digital Global In-house Centre (GIC). Success of this position will require good hands-on experience in Products Software development and strong international collaboration with global Airbus teams.

The successful candidate will establish team goals by identifying, evaluating and understanding the business strategy & technical trends. He/She will accomplish the team results/performance by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, coaching and leading the team in the right direction.

 

Qualification & Experience

Graduate/Post Graduate with 15+ years of experience in Software Development and People management Good working experience in:

• Product Software development and Technical Management experience
• Proven skills in build-in-quality
• Delivery management
• Project Management
• People management and development skills

Other:

• Working experience in  Agile way of working
• Strong knowledge of IOT & Data Platforms and Cloud Services is mandatory
• Professional Networking skills
• Solution oriented mindset
• Knowledge of Technical Architecture (desirable but not mandatory)

Responsibilities

• Hold the full responsibility to lead teams in right direction to achieve the success

• Act as intercultural “bridge” between Europe and India and also autonomous to influence the stakeholder 

• Manage and lead the team on day to day operational basis and drive continuous process improvement

• Lead the team using a performance management and development process with the right training program.

• Coach, mentor, provide oversight and direction to the team in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures

• Develop the team to take the delegation and empower them to take responsibility for their jobs and goals

• Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action when it’s required.

• Participate in the Management meeting of both IOT & BIG Data and also provide insights

• Strong passion for technology, modern platform mind-set and solving customer problems

• Strong knowledge of IOT devices, Platforms, APIs , Integration and Data interoperability.

• Good knowledge of UX/UI and design principles.

• Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies like Cloud, IOT Platforms, and Big Data.

• Consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall organization's goal and objectives

• Manage work timing schedules, job rotation and vacations of the team

• Maintain transparent and appropriate communication with the team

• Responsible to take business decisions in accordance with organization policies and procedures

• Responsible for overall budget management

• Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new applications/Projects transition to operations etc.

• Ability to provide solutions, determine overall design direction and provide recommendations for complex issues

• Awareness of the role of Information Management plays in enabling the business objectives to be met

• Responsible to maintain the agreed SLA

• Managing co-ordination of the partners and working groups engaged globally in projects

• Manage global communications and alignment with widely spread global stakeholders

• Take the accountability of developing and maintaining a detailed project plan

• To take lead in selection process of staffing needs in the team via direct hiring and via suppliers

• Apply lessons learnt in regular basis for continuous improvement on all axes

• Provide an enterprise perspective when identifying and addressing business needs

• Strong passion for technology, modern platform mindset and solving customer problems

• Liaises with, and updates progress to, project board/senior management

• Manage escalations and participate actively in escalation calls

• Fluent in skills competence for the team - Develop competencies, competencies backup and prepare for future competencies

• Continuously look for new opportunities and new customers within the frame of Global In-house Center Technology Services Solutions

• Work with Human Resources Team to interview and recruit right team based on the business need
