The pay range is $87,000.00 - $156,000.00

As a Product Manager for Recommendations Systems, you will drive efforts that will evolve our Personalization & Recommendation capabilities from an enterprise-grade application into an industry-leading machine learning technical stack. In this highly strategic & impactful role, you will be responsible for maximizing the performance of our personalization application, handling over 4.5 billion requests weekly. You will develop a clear perspective for how our personalization application fits into the overall digital product strategy; identify data, software, or system engineering growth opportunities; and create a bold vision for how to evolve into the tech stack to meet both our machine learning and enterprise business objectives.

As a Product Manager, you will work in the product model and collaborate with stakeholders to assist in defining product strategy, related roadmap, and set key business objectives (OKRs) for your respective product.  You will need to leverage the knowledge of your product, as well as client feedback and establish other relevant data points to assess value, develop business cases, and prioritize the direction and desired outcomes for your product. You will lead a product and work in unison with engineers, data scientists, and business partners to deliver value.

You will be the “voice of the product” to key stakeholders to ensure that their needs are met, and that the product team is getting the direction and support that it needs to be successful. You will develop and actively understand the market, maintain a product roadmap and backlog outlining the customer themes, epics, and stories while prioritizing the backlog to focus on the highest impact work for your team and stakeholders.

You will encourage the open exchange of information and viewpoints, as well as inspire others to achieve challenging goals and high standards of performance while committing to the organization's direction. You will foster a sense of urgency to achieve goals and leverage resources to overcome unexpected obstacles, and partner with product teams across the organization to help them achieve their goals while pursuing and completing yours.

About you:

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience

  • 4+ years of experience in technical product management, preferably in a retail environment, with a record of successfully delivering complex products

  • Proven ability to analyze large datasets, identify trends and patterns, and make data-driven decisions; strong track record of delivering roadmaps consistently.

  • Experience working in an engineering, data science, computer science, or relevant technical professional experience; prior programming experience in Python or Java a plus

  • Experience leading design, engineering and implementation of machine learning algorithms for high volume app and web placements

  • Demonstrated ability to dive deep into technical details and engage engineers with ask insightful questions about services and dependencies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Deep understanding of user needs and behavior, with the ability to translate insights into product features that drive engagement and adoption

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional partners in developing technical roadmaps, defining story outlines, writing user stories, refining product backlogs

  • Understanding of the competitive landscape and market trends, with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and evolving requirements

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
