Senior Architect 
Location: Pune, Maharashtra, India

Onit is looking to hire an experienced Senior Architect proficient in PostgreSQL, Python and database/data warehouse technologies. In this role, we are looking for go-getters who can multitask, and manage tasks across product development, as well as provide specialized SQL assistance to other report writers across the organization. The candidate should have proven prior experience creating database objects, writing and tuning complex queries, views, procedures/functions while keeping performance in mind for large datasets.   

Responsibilities: 

• Be the subject matter expert in the team on database structure, writing performant functions and SQL queries, and help teammates execute efficiently in their daily activities related to these areas. 

• Assist in data validation and ensure consistency among several incoming data sources.  

• Design and optimize scalable database architectures for handling large-scale data and high-volume transactions. 

• Ensure efficient data modeling, indexing, and query optimization for high-performance databases. 

• Develop, test and deliver quality end products in the form of database structures, functions and proper indexing to allow successful reports, dashboards or other analytics deliverables to the customer base. 

• Work effectively with internal organization when required for production issues related to nightly refresh jobs and performance. 

• Work as an integral part of the product development team to ensure delivery timelines are met as per expectations. 

• Work closely with the DBA and participate in Daily Scrum activities of the Reporting Team. 

• Provide assistance to team members where needed. 

Skills/Qualifications: 

• Senior Architect with 13+ years of IT experience and 5–8 years of specialized expertise in data migration and database management. 

• Extensive experience in designing scalable data solutions, ensuring seamless application data migration, and developing robust data sources for reporting. 

• Proficient in Python, with expertise in writing efficient, scalable code for data processing, ETL pipelines, and automation. 

• Hands-on experience with Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, SQLAlchemy, and PySpark for data manipulation and transformation. 

• Strong knowledge of relational databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server, with expertise in data modeling, indexing, and query optimization to enhance performance. 

• Ability to independently create, test, and deploy database objects such as tables and views, ensuring stability, reliability, and performance. 

• Skilled in writing optimized SQL queries to ensure database integrity and efficiency. 

• Adept at troubleshooting and resolving data issues, escalating when necessary. 

• Experience in developing and maintaining data warehouses and integrating reporting tools like Tableau for data-driven decision-making. 

• Capable of handling large datasets while ensuring data integrity and scalability. 

• Strong problem-solving skills with an innovative approach to addressing complex data challenges. 

• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams to drive successful data migration initiatives. 

Nice to haves: 

• Certifications in SQL Databases 

• Certifications in BI Tools like Tableau, PowerBI, BusinessObjects, IBM Cognos Analytics 

• Programming expertise in languages like Python, Ruby, Java. 

Education: 

• Bachelor of Engineering in computer science/Software engineering or other similar equivalent disciplines in management or equivalent
