Position Description

Serco supports the Navy as prime for their Amphibious Assault & Connectors Program Office Professional Support Services contract. The Planning Yard team supports the Landing Craft Division in the maintenance of the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC), the configuration and engineering management of the new Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1700, and the new Ship to Shore Connector (SSC).

 

This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance post-employment.

 

In this role, you will support the Configuration Status Manager (CSM) in maintaining the Model Based Product Support (MBPS) database in ensuring historical accuracy of the craft configuration. You will be part of a stellar 5-person CSM team that works closely with the customer in delivering quality products and services to the fleet.

In this role you will:

  • Support the Landing Craft Planning Yard (LCPY) Configuration Status Manager (CSM) in updating and maintaining the Model Based Product Support (MBPS) database for Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC), Ship-to-Shore Connector (SSC), and LCU1700 (Landing Craft, Utility) programs.
  • Update MBPS to reflect the latest craft availability schedules and with inspection results.
  • Process workfiles received in MBPS.
  • Keep the Configuration Support Manager (CSM) apprised of current and emergent issues.
  • Set-up approved Craft Change Documents (CCD’s), Alteration Work Items (AWIs), and Class Work Items (CWIs) in MBPS.
  • Analyze equipment characteristics and Hierarchical Structure Codes (HSCs) to ensure proper designation. Recommend HSCs for inclusion in MBPS.
  • Compose CK (2 Kilo) forms and Data Validation Sheets (DVS) for all new CCDs, AWIs, and CWIs and post to the Integrated Data Environment (IDE).
  • Provide support, administration, and configuration management within IDE.
  • Travel to shipyards in support of Craft Configuration Audits which includes traversing up and down ladder and navigating in small spaces.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and 0-2 years of relevant experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 4 years of applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
  • Must be able to obtain an active DoD Secret clearance post-employment.
  • Recent use and proficiency of MS Excel and other MS programs such as Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint are required. 
  • Familiarity or prior experience with how the Navy plans configuration and logistics data and how it is tracked and maintained will shorten the learning curve and is essential in being successful in this position.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Prior Navy experience, while not required is desired.
  • Military Logistics or Supply experience is strongly desired.
  • MS Access experience is preferred.
