The Marketing Analyst plays an essential role in helping marketers improve the effectiveness of their strategies and supports them in making data-driven decisions. This position will independently develop reporting and analyses that provide actionable, high-impact insights to partners in Marketing, Business Strategy, Digital Commerce, Merchandising and Product.
The Marketing Analyst will work with collaborators to understand their business challenges and make proactive recommendations to solve them. They are responsible for extracting data from multiple sources, validating and manipulating data, conducting analysis, and building out the associated reporting/dashboards. They will work on projects across varying subject matter to support Ferguson’s 8 lines of business.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable gathering requirements for analysis, writing complex SQL queries, collaborating with other analysts, conducting advanced analyses, developing analytical visualizations, educating collaborators on their interpretation of the data, and providing actionable insights. They should look for opportunities to leverage past experiences to improve existing processes and to develop new ones.
Location:
This role is approved to be either Remote within the United States or Hybrid for associates in Newport News, VA, in accordance with company policy. Candidates must be open to working, as needed, east coast hours.
Responsibilities:
Work with key partners to understand the business problems they face, identify reporting needs, and define the reporting/dashboard requirements to address those problems
Scoping out Business Analytics needs, defining data structures needed for reporting, locating data sources, and identifying solutions for data automation. For more advanced ETL processes, collaborating closely with our Data Engineering team
Statistical modeling and A/B testing - Working with partners to set up tests measuring the relationship between variables to better understand what website interactions, journeys and marketing tactics are most or least influential to business objectives
Creation of marketing activation audiences, including defining treatment and holdout groups
Write the code to pull and model the data in an efficient, automated manner
Leverage industry standard methodologies in the visual display of information to design and layout visual elements of reports and dashboards, making them easily consumable and interpretable by non-technical audiences
Analyze data, provide insights, and make actionable recommendations to improve Marketing effectiveness
Clearly explain Marketing Attribution and testing logic back to partners.
Find opportunities to improve the partner experience with our reports/dashboards through improved visualization and interface design as well as back-end performance improvement
Provide mentorship to junior analysts
Formalize and adhere to strong Quality Assurance processes to ensure the integrity of analytical outputs
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
3+ years of relevant analyst work experience.
Expertise in SQL/Advanced Querying.
Strong working knowledge of Excel.
Strong knowledge of at least one Business Intelligence tool (Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Studio, Looker, etc.).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications (*the highest priority preferences):
Masters or Advanced Degree.
5+ years of relevant analyst work experience, within Marketing preferred.*
Working knowledge of Python and/or R.*
Working knowledge of: Segmentation, Attribution and Incrementality testing.*
Working knowledge of Site Analytics (Adobe or Google Analytics).
Experience with the Microsoft Azure suite of tools.
Databricks, Data Factory preferred.

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
