The Director of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is responsible for overseeing and driving the organization’s AI strategy, research, and implementation. This role will be responsible for building and leading a high-performing AI team, establishing AI strategies, and driving innovation across all business units that enhance business operations, improve customer experiences, and deliver measurable business outcomes. The Director of AI works closely to align AI initiatives with the company's overall vision and objectives while ensuring ethical and responsible AI practices.

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and execute the organization's AI strategy to align with business objectives.
    • Identify opportunities to leverage AI for innovation, efficiency, and competitive advantage.
    • Stay updated on AI trends, technologies, and industry best practices to maintain leadership in the field.
  • Team and Project Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage cross-functional teams of AI researchers, engineers, and data scientists.
    • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of AI models and systems.
    • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Partner with business units to identify AI use cases and prioritize initiatives.
    • Communicate complex AI concepts and strategies to stakeholders, including the executive team and board members.
    • Foster collaboration between AI teams and other departments such as IT, marketing, and operations.
  • Technology and Innovation:
    • Drive the development of proprietary AI tools, frameworks, and technologies.
    • Evaluate and integrate third-party AI solutions where appropriate. 
    • Continuously monitor the evolving AI/ML landscape and identify opportunities to leverage new advancements.
  • Governance and Ethics:
    • Establish and enforce policies for ethical AI development and deployment.
    • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and industry standards.
    • Monitor and mitigate risks associated with AI technologies.
  • Performance Measurement:
    • Define and track KPIs to measure the impact of AI initiatives on business outcomes.
    • Report on AI progress and achievements to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field; Ph.D. preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in AI/ML, including leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of delivering AI solutions that drive business value.
  • Deep expertise in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.
  • Strong understanding of AI ethics, governance, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in managing large-scale AI projects and budgets.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and AI tools.
  • Experience in industries such as healthcare, finance, retail, or technology.
  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to interpret complex data.
  • Knowledge of Agile or other project management methodologies.
