About Your Opportunity
Reporting to our Principal Energy Advisor, you will contribute to the development and execution of Seqwater’s energy strategy and its Sustainability/NetZero objectives. As the Energy Data Analyst, you will be responsible for creating both short-term (1–5 years) and long-term (2030-2050) electricity forecasts, as well as associated GHG emissions projections. Your work will leverage data from water production, electricity usage, energy intensity, plant operations, and other sources to inform these forecasts. You will collaborate with various teams across Seqwater, applying your expertise in industry best practices to drive the creation and implementation of energy models. Additionally, you'll establish processes to ensure these models are effectively maintained and updated, seamlessly integrating them into Seqwater’s ongoing operations and responsibilities.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop, utilise and maintain a short and long range forecasting model for energy consumption and GHG emission model in Power BI/ Excel/ similar that fits Seqwater standards.
- Develop predictive and prescriptive forecasting models to include various aspects of Seqwater's operations (e.g., different drought triggers, fair weather).
- Work collaboratively with Digital Technology and Information (DTI) teams, Central Historian project team and data engineering teams to establish robust data pipelines.
- Identify and formulate energy intensity data and information that align with different operating regimes of the treatment plant and bulk water pipe networks.
- Apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to predict daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal energy consumption trends (i.e., predictive analytics function) based on defined thresholds, targets, and constraints in correlation with plant process data.
- Transfer the model outputs into meaningful reports and documents including, ELT papers, Board papers, QCA submissions, Seqwater external communication documents.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics).
- Strong demonstrated experience in data science and analytics/modelling roles, with a track record of successfully applying data-driven solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully delivering custom forecast modelling tools for energy consumption within a large operational organisation.
- High level interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal including proven and high level of ability to communicate needs and business case for investments
This position has a salary starting at $104,668.84 plus 12.75% superannuation and is full time, permanent.
