What is a Senior Analytics Engineer?

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Analytics Engineer with strong expertise in database administration (DBA). The ideal candidate possesses an analytical mindset, problem-solving aptitude, and a proactive approach to driving improvements. They should demonstrate entrepreneurial thinking, integrity, innovation, collaboration, and a customer-centric focus.

This role requires deep knowledge of data analytics, database optimization, and agile methodologies. You will be part of a dynamic Data Warehouse (DWH) function, working with cutting-edge technologies across multiple projects.

What does a DBA do?

·       Identify areas for improvement in data analytics and propose solutions to bridge gaps.

·       Develop, optimize, and maintain data analytics solutions to meet business intelligence needs.

·       Deliver on the practice backlog to enhance standards, frameworks, and learning within the team.

·       Execute the functional backlog across operations, development, reporting, and program management.

·       Manage, optimize, and ensure the performance, scalability, and reliability of Teradata environments.

·       Oversee database security, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.

·       Perform database administration tasks, including capacity planning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

·       Tune and optimize database performance, including indexing, partitioning, and workload management.

·       Ensure high availability of critical systems through replication, failover strategies, and disaster recovery planning.

·       Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align database solutions with business needs.

·       Implement and maintain ETL pipelines to efficiently manage large-scale data movement.

·       Develop and enforce data governance, compliance, and security best practices.

·       Automate and optimize database administration tasks using Shell Scripting, Python, or automation tools.

·       Monitor system health using Teradata Viewpoint or other performance monitoring tools.

·       Conduct root cause analysis and resolve complex database issues in a timely manner.

·       Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems (DBMS) and software patches.

·       Manage database user access, roles, and privileges to ensure data security.

·       Analyze and optimize query performance to improve system efficiency.

·       Develop and maintain database documentation, standards, and best practices.

·       Work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure database storage, networking, and compute resources are optimized.

·       Evaluate and implement new database technologies and tools to improve operational efficiency.

·       Support database migrations and upgrades with minimal downtime.

·       Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in the Data Analytics domain, with expertise in database administration (Experience in Teradata will be a plus)
• Bachelors in Computer Science / Software Engineering Masters will be a plus
• Hands-on experience with Teradata DBA tasks such as performance tuning, workload management, and space optimization.
• Proficiency in Advanced SQL Queries and database performance optimization.
• Strong knowledge of Data Lake and Data Warehousing principles.
• Experience working in an agile development environment.
• Hands-on expertise with ETL/BI tools and DevOps & Automation tools.
• Proficiency in Shell Scripting for automation and process efficiency.
• Experience in database security best practices, RBAC (Role-Based Access Control), and auditing.
• Strong understanding of Linux/Unix environments for database administration.
• Experience with cloud-based data solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
