BMG’s Global Data Analytics (GDA) is our central data unit, spanning a close-knit international team of experienced Analytics Engineers, Data Analysts and Data Scientists across Germany, the US and the UK. We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Scientist (f/m/d) to join our Berlin headquarters and develop innovative (generative) AI / ML / Automation solutions in collaboration with GDA colleagues and BMG’s Technology team. In this role, you will play a key part in driving BMG’s analytics strategy by designing advanced data models that generate actionable insights, integrating predictive analytics across functions, and leading the global implementation of AI and machine learning projects with strategic business impact. By working closely with senior business stakeholders and our Tech & Data teams, you will help shape the future of music analytics!
What you’ll be doing
- Design AI and ML models to support automation and forecasting initiatives e.g. around Marketing ROI, Investments, Artist Scouting, and Market Trends
- Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA), feature engineering and model evaluation for AI use cases
- Develop advanced statistical and ML models to extract meaningful insights from large data sets
- Partner with Software and ML Engineers to deploy and integrate predictive models
- Provide thought leadership on the feasibility of various ML and AI initiatives (including generative AI), with a focus on strategic business impact
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and management to deliver business objectives through scalable, robust data solutions
What you bring
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science / AI, or related field
- Proficient in Python and SQL
- Advanced knowledge of data analysis, statistical modeling, ML/AI frameworks, and data manipulation tools
- Proven experience deploying AI models in production environments and delivering commercially beneficial data science / ML / AI solutions
- Experience building production-level data pipelines within a cloud infrastructure (e.g. GCP)
- Experience with implementing LLMs (Large Language Models)
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a strategic, results-driven mindset to derive business insights
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and confidently present findings to senior management
- Collaborative mindset, thriving in an international, cross-functional team environment
- Prior music industry exposure and experience with our tech stack (dbt, git, Airflow, GCP BigQuery, Looker) is a strong plus
