The key mission of this role will be to develop and deliver AI solutions & systems that transform the capability and coordination of one of the largest vertically integrated mine, rail and port operations in the world. The right candidate will bring a strong curiosity and technical perspective to these challenges, including experience in data science and AI algorithm & system design, along with a drive for delivering outcomes and working software in cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, development and implementation of AI computer vision algorithms to drive productivity in our integrated operations across mine, rail and port.
- Engaging and collaborating with internal stakeholders to shape requirements.
- Collecting, annotating, and pre-processing large datasets of images or videos for training and testing models, including data augmentation and normalisation.
- Develop test plan to evaluate system performance and ensure models generalise to real-world data.
- Continuously monitoring deployed models' performance and maintain the backlogs for development, re-training, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to prioritise their development.
- Deploying models to production environments, which involves containerisation and integration to cameras, lidar and PLCs.
- Staying up to date with developments in AI & ML and identifying opportunities to incorporate new techniques and technologies into our system designs.
Qualifications and Experience
- An advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering or other quantitative scientific discipline.
- Experience (1-3 years) in data science and AI solution & system development with mining and heavy industrial operations applications is preferred.
- Strong understanding and practical experience in statistics, machine learning, causal inference and/or experimental design
- Solid knowledge of data science technologies, including programming languages such as Python and tools such as git, experience in frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or OpenCV.
- Experience with industrial communications protocols such as MQTT, Modbus and OPC are highly regarded.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in SQL and AWS platforms S3, EC2 and Sagemaker.
- Experience deploying models to production environments with the use of technologies like Docker and Kubernetes regarded.
- Candidates that can show prior impressive work are highly regarded.
