We are now looking for an AI Chief Architect to join the UPM AI Center of Excellence. The purpose of this unit is to support UPM's AI transformation projects and act as a catalyst for the whole organization in AI adoption. This is an excellent opportunity to join a team of experts and do pioneering AI work in the heart of renewable and sustainable materials industry.

What you will do

• AI Architecture Design: Develop and maintain the overall AI architecture, ensuring it aligns with the UPM's technology strategy and business goals.
• Technology Evaluation: Evaluate and select appropriate AI technologies, tools, and frameworks.
• Strategic Planning: Align AI architecture with UPM’s long-term business objectives.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, to deliver AI solutions. Work closely with UPM’s IT and infrastructure teams to ensure the AI architecture is well-supported.
• Solution Integration: Oversee the integration of AI solutions into UPM’s existing enterprise system
• Data Management: Contribute to defining data architecture and data governance policies to support AI initiatives.
• Performance Optimization: Oversee, optimize, monitor and troubleshoot the performance of AI models and systems to ensure they meet performance and reliability standards.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and guidance to AI development teams. Mentor and train junior architects and engineers in AI technologies and best practices.
• Documentation and Standards: Establish and enforce documentation and standards for AI development and deployment.

Who you are

• You are excited about AI opportunities and willing to make AI happen in practice
• You have a Master’s or Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in AI, machine learning, and related projects, with proven experience in designing and implementing AI architectures and solutions.
• You have a deep understanding of AI and machine learning algorithms, techniques, and frameworks, and passion for staying updated on the latest AI trends and technologies.
• You are proficient in programming languages commonly used in AI, such as Python, R, and Java.
• You have a strong knowledge of data analytics tools and platforms.
• You have experience with cloud computing and AI infrastructure, proven by relevant certifications
• You have the ability to align AI architecture and solutions with business goals and objectives.
• You have strong interpersonal and influencing skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• You have the ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship to AI development teams.
• You have the ability to drive continuous innovation within the organization.
• You have a strong understanding of data governance principles and practices.

The position location is Helsinki, Finland.
