The following position is to join our RTX Corporate team:

RTX  Legal, Contracts and Compliance (LCC) is seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence (AI) Lawyer.  Reporting to the General Counsel of RTX Enterprise Services and Digital Technology, this position is responsible for providing AI and transactional legal support across RTX and each of its three business units.

Ability to effectively identify and advise on complex AI and legal issues is a critical aspect of this role. The successful candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, driving results, thinking creatively on their feet, and collaborating within a matrixed environment. Experience working with AI, data rights, privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property (IP), global trade, complex transactions and litigation is required.

What You Will Do

  • Strategic leadership in the development of an RTX-wide Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance and Risk Management Framework which will provide legal, compliance and regulatory oversight for all AI projects within RTX and each of the BUs.
  • Advising and counseling senior digital executives on RTX Senior VP & Chief Digital Officer’s leadership team, in particular RTX Chief AI Officer, including compliance with data governance regulations and complex areas of law, such as privacy, global trade, and intellectual property. The global aspect of the organization requires this leader to be facile in the various nuances of international law & regulation.
  • Negotiating and strategic guidance on highly visible Strategic Partnership Agreements, acquisitions and divesture.
  • Leadership and engagement with Government Relations and various governmental agencies in influencing change in new laws and regulations being promulgated in the fast-paced, emerging area of AI law.
  • Lead in a fast paced-environment and make collaborative & sound decisions on complex issues.
  • Regularly advise senior leadership within the RTX Enterprise Services organization, Raytheon, Collins Aerospace, Pratt Whitney and other functions on critical AI and data-related decisions.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a minimum of 14 years prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience.
  • JD Law Degree and an active state bar membership.
  • Strong transactional experience in drafting and negotiating complex license agreements.
  • Experience with AI and data rights.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Top Secret Security Clearance is required. Candidates must be able to successfully obtain Security Clearance within 12 months of hire date.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • A degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience with privacy and cybersecurity issues.
  • Highly motivated individual with strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, judgment, sense of accountability, integrity and a record of managing complex intellectual property matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to learn quickly, provide creative solutions, and influence senior leadership.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Integrity and sound judgment.
  • In-house IP legal experience.
  • Engineering experience is beneficial.

Location

  • This is a hybrid position as the role oversees several programs that will require on-site support in Farmington, CT. Candidate must reside within two hour driving distance to office in Farmington. Candidates must be able to relocate within 6 months of hire date.

The salary range for this role is 176,000 USD - 352,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
