We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead our engineering team in building and scaling innovative AI-driven solutions that transform the way the automotive industry operates. Role Overview
As the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for driving the strategic vision, development, and execution of our AI/ML-powered SaaS platform. You will lead a team of engineers, ensuring the delivery of scalable, high-performance, and reliable software solutions. This role requires a technical leader with deep expertise in AI/ML, cloud-native architectures, and SaaS product development, along with a strong entrepreneurial mindset, leadership, and collaboration skills. Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Define and execute the engineering roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and product vision. Take initiative to identify opportunities and champion innovative approaches that move the business forward.
- Team Management & Growth: Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. Instill an entrepreneurial spirit within the team, encouraging ownership and accountability.
- Architecture & Scalability: Design and implement cloud-native, microservices-based architectures to support the scalability and performance of our SaaS platform.
- Agile Development: Drive best practices in Agile, CI/CD, DevOps, and software engineering processes to ensure rapid and reliable product development. Promote a startup mentality—move fast, iterate, and continuously improve.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Data Science, and Customer Success teams to align engineering efforts with market needs and customer feedback.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure the platform meets industry security standards and regulatory requirements. Lead engineering efforts for completion of our SOC 2 Type 2 certification.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvements in infrastructure and software reliability.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with the last 5 years in Director or VP of Engineering role.
- Strong expertise in Front End (React) + Back End (Java, Vert.X) technologies.
- Proven experience in scaling SaaS platforms using cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or Go and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, etc.).
- Deep knowledge of microservices architecture, Kubernetes, and serverless computing.
- Experience with big data technologies (BigQuery) and MLOps best practices.
- Strong background in Agile methodologies, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset—comfortable operating in ambiguity, taking initiative, and driving growth.
- Automotive industry experience is a plus.
The salary range for this position is $167,000 - $200,000 plus an annual target bonus.
