Position Summary:

The AI & Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying AI-driven solutions that enhance business efficiency and member experiences at TDECU. This role involves leveraging Azure AI Services, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, Python, and APIs to build intelligent automation, chatbots, and process optimization tools.

The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with a strong technical foundation in AI, automation, and cloud technologies. They will collaborate with business teams to identify challenges, explore AI-driven solutions, and implement scalable automation strategies. A deep understanding of AI agents, large language models (LLMs), and cloud-based AI deployments is essential.

This role provides the opportunity to experiment with emerging AI technologies, fine-tune models, and drive automation initiatives that make a direct impact on business processes. The successful candidate will be proactive in learning and continuously improving AI-powered solutions to optimize efficiency and innovation at TDECU.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Deploy AI Solutions – Design, implement, and maintain AI-driven applications, including chatbots, automation workflows, and AI models using Azure AI Services, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, and Python.
  • Optimize AI & Automation Performance – Monitor, fine-tune, and improve the performance of AI-powered applications and automation workflows to meet business efficiency and service-level expectations.
  • Integrate AI with Business Processes – Work with APIs, WebSockets, and cloud platforms to integrate AI solutions with existing business systems for seamless automation and data flow.
  • Monitor System Health & Security – Proactively track the performance, availability, and security of AI and automation systems, ensuring compliance with data governance policies.
  • Troubleshoot and Optimize AI Models – Analyze and resolve AI-related issues, fine-tune models, and enhance performance through continuous monitoring and iterative improvements.
  • Automate Manual Processes – Identify repetitive business tasks and create automation solutions using AI and workflow automation tools to drive operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Business Teams – Work closely with stakeholders to understand pain points, gather requirements, and implement AI-driven solutions that improve business outcomes.
  • Support Cloud Deployments – Manage and maintain cloud-based AI applications and automation services, ensuring their scalability, security, and optimal performance.
  • Stay Ahead of AI Trends – Research and experiment with emerging AI technologies, automation frameworks, and LLM advancements to keep TDECU at the forefront of innovation.
  • Incident Response & Maintenance – Troubleshoot production issues, participate in incident resolution, and support AI system updates, model retraining, and cloud maintenance as needed.
  • Contribute to AI Strategy – Provide insights and recommendations on AI adoption, ethical AI considerations, and automation strategies to enhance business efficiency and member experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and work experience

Certifications (Preferred but Not Required):

  • AI & Cloud Certifications (Microsoft AI Engineer, Azure AI Fundamentals, Google AI, OpenAI certifications, etc.)
  • Automation & Low-Code Platforms (Power Platform, UiPath, etc.)
  • Programming & Data Certifications (Python, SQL, Cloud Development, etc.)

Proof of AI Work (Accepted in Place of Traditional Experience):

  • Building AI Agents (chatbots, automation tools using LLMs).
  • Deploying open-source LLMs or working with fine-tuning models.
  • Developing AI-powered applications or cloud-based AI solutions.
  • Solving real-world business problems using AI and automation.

Experience:

  • Hands-on experience with AI tools & automation frameworks (Azure AI Services, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, OpenAI APIs).
  • Programming skills in Python, SQL, and API integrations.
  • Understanding of deploying, fine-tuning, and optimizing AI models (LLMs, AI agents, open-source models).
  • Cloud deployment experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Proven ability to build and integrate AI-driven solutions into business processes.
  • Proficiency in API & WebSocket integrations to connect AI systems with business applications.
  • Business & Communication Skills – Ability to engage with non-technical stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into AI-driven solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive mindset toward AI-driven automation.
  • Experience with automation platforms (Power Automate, Zapier, or similar) to streamline repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a focus on continuous learning and improvement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • AI & Automation: AI model fine-tuning, workflow automation, and cloud-based AI deployment.
  • Programming & Integration: Python, SQL, APIs, WebSockets, automation scripting.
  • Cloud & Security: Azure AI, cloud deployment and security best practices.
  • Problem-Solving & Optimization: Troubleshooting AI performance, optimizing automation workflows.
  • Business & Communication: Ability to translate business needs into AI-driven solutions.
