THE OPPORTUNITY   

As the Director, Business Intelligence and Analytics, reporting to the VP Data Science, you will lead our Business Intelligence and Analytics team, driving both strategy and execution in data and analytics initiatives. This role will define and execute best practices, standardize reporting and analytics workflows, and ensure high-quality, validated data products for internal stakeholders. You will partner with Data Engineering and AI teams to develop scalable, actionable, and innovative solutions that empower the organization. Additionally, you will champion BI tool adoption, drive automation efforts, and optimize data architectures to support business growth.

Leadership Component
You will oversee a team of 7 professionals, including BI and Data Analysts. The team includes 2 managers specializing in different aspects of BI and analytics. You will be responsible for their professional development, performance management, and career progression. The broader team will collaborate closely with other departments, including Data Engineering, AI, Finance, Operations, Marketing, Procurement, Maintenance, and IT, to ensure seamless integration of data workflows and alignment with organizational priorities.

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Define and execute the Data Analytics & BI strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and emerging industry trends (70%)
  • Leverage extensive knowledge of Data Analytics & BI tools to create and manage critical reports (30%)
  • Lead agile work methodologies, backlog management, and stakeholder education, guiding teams on best practices for analytics execution.
  • Educate internal stakeholders how data-driven insights can enhance decision-making.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and career development for the BI & Analytics team, ensuring continued growth, upskilling, and engagement.
  • Collaborate with all business units to define, track, and optimize key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Partner with Data Engineering to ensure validated, reproducible outputs and efficient data pipelines.
  • Establish and enforce data governance, compliance, and quality control measures to maintain data integrity and consistency.

      CANDIDATE PROFILE 

      • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics or a related field.
      • 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, or Data Strategy, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
      • Technical Skills:
        • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis and automation.
        • Expertise in Power BI, Tableau, or other enterprise visualization tools for reporting and data storytelling.
        • Hands-on experience working with data engineering teams to create validated data models and pipelines.
        • Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud-based data architectures.
        • Strong understanding of data governance, compliance, and quality frameworks.
      • Nice to have:
        • Familiarity with Oracle Fusion and Coupa.
        • Familiarity with modern data architectures, including AWS, Azure, Snowflake, and Databricks.
        • Experience with DBT (Data Build Tool) for analytics engineering.
        • Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and their application in BI & Analytics.
        • Certification in Power BI or AWS.
