We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our growing team at Imperial Supplies. In this critical role, you will develop and maintain the company’s data architecture to enhance business intelligence, improve decision-making processes, and optimize data accessibility. Working closely with solution and cloud architects, business partners, and external service providers, you will ensure that analytics capabilities align with our data architecture and meet the evolving needs of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, recommend, and implement the organization’s data architecture and data accessibility strategy.
  • Create a scalable data foundation to support future investments in business intelligence and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with business partners, analysts, and solution delivery teams to maximize the value of data across the organization.
  • Mentor and guide junior data engineers on best practices and technical problem-solving.
  • Develop and maintain logical data models and physical database designs for optimized data storage, processing, and accessibility.
  • Lead the design and development of data warehouses and new business intelligence (BI) solutions.
  • Implement and manage ETL processes to ensure smooth data integration and processing.
  • Conduct system performance assessments and recommend infrastructure improvements to optimize end-user experience.
  • Create and promote standards, tools, and process flows for mapping data sources and documenting data movement across the enterprise.
  • Define and enforce metadata governance and best practices in collaboration with the analytics governance committee to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reusability.

 

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline.

 

Preferred Education:

  • Degree in Software or Computer Engineering, Applied Math, Physics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as Associate Big Data Engineer (ABDE), AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Professional Data Engineer, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate are highly desirable.

 

Minimum Experience:

  • At least five years of experience in data architecture or seven years in equivalent roles.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Ten+ years as a data engineer with expertise in data accessibility strategy, using MS SQL Server, Snowflake, AWS Redshift, DBT (Data Build Tool), and Google BigQuery.

 

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience with ETL tools and frameworks.
  • Strong background in software development and data architecture design.
  • Proficient in SQL, R, and Python for data transformation and analysis.
  • Excellent data analysis, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, taxonomy creation, and data policy formation.
  • Experience with cloud data warehouse technologies (Snowflake, AWS RedShift, Google BigQuery) and querying tools (SQL, AWS QuickSight, Google Data Studio).
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as PowerBI and Tableau.
  • Experience with data integration from multiple sources and Big Data technologies.
  • Understanding of machine learning toolkit integration is a plus.
