General Description

  • The Senior Data Analyst facilitates gathering business/functional requirements and supports fraud systems implementation, operational processes, and applications to drive business decisions. They support strategic initiatives, standardize process documentation, and identify solutions to improve efficiency and productivity. Tasks include assessing threats and vulnerabilities, developing mitigation measures, managing incident processes, conducting investigations, and creating remediation plans. The role also involves analytics and reporting for operational areas, with potential supervisory duties. The analyst develops and implements complex statistical, financial, and accounting models for predicting and monitoring fraud risk.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct rigorous data analyses, employing statistical methods and mathematical models to derive insights from complex data sets.
  • Assist in the validation and testing of quantitative models to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the results.
  • Apply statistical theory and methods to collect, organize, interpret, and summarize numerical and text data to provide usable information. Interpret quantitative data and design statistical or machine learning models for researching problems or questions.
  • Analyze data using statistical analysis software programs such as Python, R, SAS, Stata or SPSS.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends or patterns that may indicate financial distress and emerging credit risk in clients using quantitative techniques such as detection models, prediction models, text matching, clustering, among others.
  • Conducts special studies to analyze complex financial actions and prepares recommendations for policy, procedure, control, or action. Analyzes financial information to determine present and future financial performance. Identifies trends and recommends improvements accordingly.
  • Evaluates complex profit plans, operating records, and financial statements. Directs preparation of studies, reports, and analyses in areas such as forecasts, financial plans, regulatory requirements, statistical reports,
  • Makes recommendations to management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities and profitability improvement strategies. Coordinates with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, acquisition activity, new business planning, trended future requirements, government requirements, and/or operating forecasts.
  • Gather, evaluate, and relay both internal and economic data to predict different types of risks by making use of econometric, statistical, and machine learning methods.
  • Contribute to the AI-driven Visualization & Self Service and Guided Analytics initiatives by applying quantitative methodologies to generate visual insights.
  • Communicate quantitative analysis results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, making complex concepts accessible.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in quantitative analytics and actively participate in continuous learning opportunities.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This Job has no supervisory responsibilities but in special circumstances may lead the work of others.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related quantitative field; a Master’s degree is a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in analytics, with a strong background in statistical modeling and data analysis techniques.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's)

  • Familiarity with BI tools, data visualization, and reporting methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with an aptitude for solving complex problems using quantitative methods.
  • Eagerness to stay abreast of emerging trends in quantitative analytics and to drive innovation within the organization.
  • Experience in adhering to governance practices related to analytics and data management.
  • Experience in data management, including data cleaning, preprocessing, feature engineering, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with financial domains, data products and instruments, as well as financial mathematics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following software programs: R programming language, Python or SAS.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, applicable laws, regulations and practices, financial markets, financial analysis, and/or reporting of financial data.
  • Process large amounts of data for statistical modeling and graphic analysis, using computers.
  • Fully bilingual, English and Spanish.
