We are looking for engineers with extensive experience investigating and analyzing online abuse, and actively implementing countermeasures. Our focus on data analysis and machine learning as well as our knowledge of the robust infrastructure of our back-end systems allows us to collaborate seamlessly with Software engineering, data science, and operations teams to build tools and techniques necessary to enforce at scale. Integrity Science Engineers have the opportunity to work on many of the most challenging, complicated, and high-visibility integrity risks the company faces. Our work impacts the billions of people who use Facebook products. The potential for impact with this work is substantial, as outcomes could affect the billions of people who use our products.
Successful candidates for this team thrive on taking decisive action and possess a keen skill to identify patterns amidst complexity. They are adept at making prompt, data-backed decisions and aren’t afraid to delve into investigating the underlying causes of abuse. You will have a background in a quantitative or technical field, will have in-depth experience in data-driven decision making, and has a passion for adversarial problem spaces. You are focused on results, a self-starter, and have demonstrated success in using any tools on to reduce abuse and negative user experiences across the platform.Integrity Science Engineer Responsibilities
$147,000/year to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. - Apply expertise in quantitative analysis, and data mining to identify trends and opportunities to drive down online inauthentic behaviors on Meta's products
- Analyze and interpret large scale data in order to devise hypotheses on how adversarial behaviors are proliferating and to understand key anomalous patterns of these malicious actors
- Lead in-depth technical investigations from start-to-finish and effectively communicate actionable results to different audience types
- Develop and implement new countermeasures to stop abuse, including leveraging and building statistical/machine learning models and rule-based approaches
- Work closely with related teams to identify novel sources of abusive behavior and take action to stop this abuse
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Math/Finance, Physics, Applied Economics, Statistics or other technical field and/or equivalent 5+ years of experience in a related field
- Experience investigating and acting on high-impact threats and online threat actors
- Experience with relational databases and SQL
- Experience making data-backed decisions that influence the team and organization
- Experience distilling complex and technical information to be shared with many different audience backgrounds
- Experience coding in at least one of the following: PHP, Python, Haskell, or Java
- 5+ years of experience doing quantitative analysis
- Experience prioritizing and executing with minimal direction or oversight
- Experience working across the broader integrity/security/Trust & Safety community
- Experience in adversarial space like fraud and spam
- Proven track record of managing and executing on short term and long term projects
- Familiarity with cross-platform integrity threats
- Demonstrated understanding of security and integrity risks, and how they apply to Facebook and its users
