Software Engineering Intern

Pay Rate: $25/hour

All internship positions are designed to give college students an opportunity to apply techniques learned in an academic setting while obtaining new skills. This is a paid internship offering full-time hours during the summer months. All interns are required to conclude the program by giving a formal presentation on their work. Please note that no relocation assistance or sponsorship is provided for the internship program at this time.

We're rethinking protein tools and helping thousands of researchers around the world resolve their protein analysis problems so they can reveal new insight into proteins and their role in disease.  Software is vital to our success in developing award-winning bio-tech instruments for the life sciences industry.  Our product development team is making products that are drastically changing how scientists and researchers use tools to become more productive. 

In this internship, you will use your knowledge of Java/Python/C# as well as Machine Learning and Image Processing to help expand the capabilities of some of our computer vision systems. You will collaborate with other software engineers in the development of internal tools to help classify various imagery. We have a large database of images and need somebody interested in helping us to create tools to automate the labeling and classification of them. 
 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Research and develop a means for an automatic labeling of images. 

• This may require manual labeling as well as research into unsupervised learning techniques. 

• Present on research efforts and outcomes. 

Program Requirements: 

• Must be a currently enrolled student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the internship (Computer Science) 

• Must have completed (at minimum) the sophomore year of college 

• Must be able to work full-time during the duration of the internship program 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

• Have exposure to Machine Learning & image processing concepts and techniques 

• Familiarity with one of Python/Java/C# 

• Familiarity with software development concepts 

• Strong written skills necessary to document software design and present on research 

• Ability to work independently and with a team.
