The distinct behavior demonstrated by a Senior Manager, Product Owner is defined by Product Thought Leadership, Innovation, Strategy and People Management & Development. The Senior Manager, Product Owner for Global Drug Safety, within GSK R&D Tech, is accountable for designing and delivering the roadmap for a range of Drug Safety Data products with a focus on improving user experience, working collaboratively with senior stakeholders to agree on and deliver against priorities.
The role will have ownership and responsibility for various Drug Safety Data products within GSK’s Global Safety Operations and Safety Data product set and will have a key role in shaping and creating GSK’s future Drug Safety and data platforms. Experience of Drug Safety systems such as Argus / Aris-G / Veeva is desired, as is experience of other platforms like tools such as PowerBI, Azure, Snowflake.
This role is a strategic, data-driven leadership position responsible for transforming how we analyze and leverage our ICSR data (Individual Case Safety Report). You will own the product vision and roadmap for our data science and analytics portfolio, driving deep insights that enable us to automate and mitigate manual business processes using AI. In doing so, you will empower our team to analyze data far more effectively than before.
The Product Owner is recognized as the go to leader and trusted advisor for their product set – removing blockers, working collaboratively and adaptively to constantly meet the needs of their customers and deliver value to GSK.

In this role you will
Technology Strategy & Enablement: Act as a trusted advisor with strong domain knowledge, including business processes, industry best practices, and market solutions. Maintain awareness of emerging industry trends such as machine learning, visual analytics, and automation to drive product strategy. Evaluate leading AI and analytics tools to enhance process automation and data analysis capabilities.
Demand & Stakeholder management: Collaborate with and influence senior business stakeholders to manage and prioritize the product backlog, focusing on the highest business value. Accountable for cost forecast.
Data-Driven Innovation: Champion advanced analytics and AI initiatives to uncover hidden insights within our data, improving quality, accuracy, and timeliness of safety reporting. Work closely with the technical teams to convert complex data challenges into scalable, automated solutions.
Governance: Establish and lead governance bodies to provide oversight, establish business value, manage delivery and service performance, and handle business risks.
Product/Project Delivery: Design and deliver products and services that meet business strategy and requirements.
Quality, Risk & Compliance: Ensure all products are compliant with internal security, risk management policies, external regulatory requirements (e.g., GxP), and that Tech continuity plans are in place for business-critical products
Backlog Management & Execution: Maintain an agile product backlog, ensuring the roadmap delivers actionable insights, streamlines tasks, and achieves efficiency gains.
Feature Definition: Translate customer requirements into new technology solutions that are easily understood by product teams, developers, and other key stakeholders
Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry trends, regulatory updates, and emerging AI techniques to continuously refine the product vision and portfolio.
People Management: Collaborate with the broader team to drive and deliver business value within tight timelines. Matrix or line manage the team as required.
Adoption strategy & change management: Support product teams and the business in agile solution development and adoption, building excitement, momentum, visible success stories, and clear value-based versions of the vision as roadmap plans come to life.

Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
Master’s Degree and/or comparable experience in computing/science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
Significant experience in the IT industry
Strong track record in successful IT development, solution design, architecture, project delivery
Good track record in delivering business impact through IT enabled solutions, across multiple business lines
Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, ability to influence sr. leadership and decision-making using data, market evidence
Understanding of AI/ML, GenAI, LLM, NLP algorithms & capabilities and vision to drive business value and enhance the Drug Safety data offerings
Knowledge of cloud & webservice platforms such as Azure cloud, Databricks, RESTful Webservices
Understanding of data mesh / fabric principles
Understanding Datawarehouse design and ELT processes
Experience in designing scalable architectures and automating business processes using AI
Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python (PySpark or Snowpark is a plus)
Experience with cloud-based data platforms like Snowflake and Azure - development, integration, and configuration (Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure App Services, Azure Cognitive Services, ADLSv2, Azure Key Vault and more)
Understanding DevOps best practices (version control, CI/CD, Azure DevOps, YAML pipelines)
Experience with data analytics platforms, data visualization or Business Intelligence tools (preferably Power BI)
Excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
Experience in Project Management, Agile/JIRA, Release Management and Vendor Management
Domain Knowledge of Pharmacovigilance and GxP
Experience with data virtualization (Denodo)
Experience in CMDB (Configuration Management Database)
Experience in working with regulated systems
Experience with security strategies and best practices, data integration mechanisms, architectural design tools, delivering and integrating COTS applications
