Data Science Intern

We’re looking for a motivated and curious Data Science Intern to join our growing Data Science team at Breeze Airways.
As a Data Science Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced data scientists on real-world projects that improve our guests’ travel experience and drive better decision-making across the organization. You’ll gain hands-on experience with data, learn about the airline industry, and contribute to meaningful initiatives across Revenue, Marketing, Operations, and more.

Here's what you'll do

• Support the Data Science team by exploring and analyzing data to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions
• Help build, evaluate, and refine predictive models and machine learning algorithms under the guidance of experienced team members
• Clean, preprocess, and organize datasets from multiple sources (structured and unstructured)
• Assist with creating data visualizations, dashboards, and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders
• Learn about experimentation and contribute to A/B testing efforts or analysis of pilots and operational trials
• Participate in team meetings and cross-functional collaborations to better understand business needs and how data can help
• Stay up to date with the latest in data science and machine learning tools and techniques
• Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security policies in all projects and analyses.

Here's what you'll need to be successful

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited university
• Some experience with Python or R for data analysis
• Familiarity with tools like pandas, NumPy, tidyverse or scikit-learn
• Basic understanding of machine learning concepts such as regression, classification, or clustering
• Exposure to SQL and querying databases
• Introductory understanding of statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and experimental design
• Must have authorization to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High performance orientation with the ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
• Self-starter with a positive attitude and a passion for delivering high-impact results.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with data visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI, matplotlib, or ggplot
• Familiarity with version control tools like Git or GitHub
• Interest in natural language processing (NLP) or Generative AI (GenAI) is a bonus
• Interest in the airline, travel, or e-commerce space is a plus
• Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a bonus but not required
• Willingness to ask questions, take feedback, and learn from others
• Strong attention to detail and a growth mindset
