The Clinical Data Coordinator is responsible for the acquisition, management, and submission of clinical data to ensure compliance with the standards required by organizations such as the Society of Thoracic Surgery, the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association (Get with the Guidelines), Congestive Heart Failure, and the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of database submissions to support quality improvement initiatives and accreditation standards.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Licensure/Certification: Registered Nurse (RN) with valid license in the State of Ohio is required.
  • Experience:  Must have nursing expertise in cardiac, cardiothoracic (CT) surgery, or metabolic and bariatric surgery with 2–3 years of experience in acute care settings.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quarterly data abstraction audits to ensure data quality and compliance.
  • Maintain and adhere to required timelines for data submission to applicable organizations.
  • Apply current clinical practice guidelines and standard definitions when conducting case reviews.
  • Utilize data systems effectively to identify all cases requiring inclusion in the relevant databases.

Working Conditions: This position involves a combination of physical and sedentary tasks, including:

  • Physical Demands:
  1. Occasionally: climbing, kneeling, stooping, pulling, pushing, and reaching.
  2. Frequently: standing, talking, walking, hearing conversations/other sounds, and visual tasks requiring color differentiation.
  3. Consistently: sitting and use of hands for various tasks.
  • Lifting Requirements:
  1. Rarely: lifting objects over 50 lbs.
  2. Frequently: lifting objects under 50 lbs.
