The role is responsible for driving improvements in functional performance through the identification, definition and implementation of key information, data and metrics that will enable Buyers to be more effective. The role uses external insight to identify best practice and then develops key enablers – e.g. cost models, dashboards, volatility analysis, coverage analysis and market research information – that enhance procurement operations, promote supplier excellence, and ensure alignment with organisational goals for efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. The role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to embed use of the key enablers across the procurement function.
Responsibilities
BRINGS THE OUTSIDE IN
· Uses external research to identify Procurement best practice and emerging trends and translate these into the key information, data and metrics that will enable Buyers to be more effective
· Engages with external suppliers and industry experts to incorporate market intelligence into data and analytics requirements for the function
· Partners with cross-functional teams, including finance, sales and other teams within supply chain, to align procurement analytics with broader business goals.
DRIVES UNDERSTANDING THROUGH DATA ANALYSTICS
· Creates the approach to data and analytics and builds the capability amongst the Procurement function to understand the information and act upon it
· Leverages advanced analytics to enhance visibility into procurement spend, supplier performance, and market trends, identifying the key information, data and metrics that will enable Buyers to be more effective
· Develops models, dashboards, reports and tools that provide insights into procurement performance and opportunities for improvement. Examples include cost models, risk management dashboards, spend cubes, payment terms, volatility analysis, coverage analysis, market trends and supplier landscape analysis.
· Works with Senior Performance Manager to ensure that data and analytics tools, practices and understanding are included in the Procurement Academy.
· Supports key decisions by providing data-backed recommendations.
DRIVES SUPPLIER PERFOMANCE THROUGH DATA AND ANALYIS
· Identifies metrics to assess supplier performance, including those relating to environmental impact, ethics and sustainable sourcing, and agrees these with both the Procurement Leadership Team and the Category Teams
· Creates, manages and maintains the tools to track individual supplier performance and the required reporting mechanisms (e.g. scorecard consolidation, dashboards, reports etc)
· Ensures data and metrics on supplier diversity, sustainability, and risk management are embedded in procurement practices.
· Generates actionable insights and presents them to key stakeholders through dashboards and detailed reports.
SUPPORTS COMMODITY RISK MANAGEMENT THROUGH DATA AND ANALYTICS
· Designs and implements analytics solutions to improve the management of risks associated with commodity purchasing. This includes the application of machine learning and AI models for predictive analytics
Qualifications
We need a strategic thinker who is both focussed on external trends and has extensive knowledge of the full range of procurement tools, techniques and accountabilities. A strong understanding of analytics, data, modelling and how to maximise use of these tools to drive performance both within the function and with suppliers is essential. Exposure to commodity risk management and associated tolls and techniques is also required. Highly effective interpersonal skills, excellent negotiation, strong communication and influencing skills to all organisational levels, are required to be successful in this role
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, or related field. A master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
- Proven experience of developing best practice and ways of working
- Excellent Functional knowledge in leading Procurement roles
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis, predictive modelling and machine learning techniques
- Proficient in in data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) together with expertise in data manipulation and analysis using SQL, Python, or R
- Depth of different aspects of Procurement such as sourcing, category management, preferably within Food & Beverage industry
- Breath / Depth experience in sourcing processes and procurement standard methodologies, with experience of implementing them in multiple global organisation.
- Results Oriented – comfortable setting and delivering against bold, stretch targets
