Apply now Apply later

PERTS seeks a Data Analyst/R Programmer to help shape the national conversation about equity in students’ experiences.

PERTS (perts.net) helps educational organizations advance educational equity by enabling them to continuously measure the impact of educational practices on students’ experiences—experiences like identity safety, personally and culturally relevant content (see perts.net/elevate/measures-refs). For more about PERTS’ approach to measurement, see our OpEd in EdWeek or our article in the Teachers College Record

The Data Analyst/R Programmer will support PERTS and other leading national education organizations in analyzing data about the experiences of students they serve. For example, the analyst may create reports outlining how students from historically marginalized racial or economic backgrounds can experience more supportive learning environments.

PERTS is located in San Francisco, and we have a remote working culture that welcomes candidates from across the U.S.  The role is a part-time position ranging from 10-15 hours per week — the wide range is to accommodate potential candidates with various other commitments. The pay range is $45-$50/hr (based on experience/education/location), beginning in Summer 2025. The work schedule is flexible.

Because inequitable educational systems disproportionately harm marginalized communities, we believe that these communities must be centered in the work we do. Hence, we strongly encourage applications from members of marginalized communities as a part of cultivating a diverse talent pool.

Our team is committed to contributing to something bigger than ourselves while caring for each other as a team. Our core values are:

  • Creating meaningful graphics and visualizations of data for educators and other stakeholders using the ggplot2 framework.
  • Contributing to the maintenance, use, and design of the PERTS R codebase.

Requirements

The following skills and experience are necessary to be successful in the role:

  • Commitment to the mission of promoting equity in America’s educational system.
