SALARY: $79,200 - $108,900, bonus eligible

ROLE SUMMARY:

Platform engineering focuses on crafting and building toolchains and workflows that enable self-service capabilities for software engineering teams. Platform engineers develop and maintain an Internal Developer Platform that supports the entire application lifecycle, improving operational efficiency and empowering developers with flawless self-service solutions.

Our mission is to deliver Automation, Site Reliability, and Cloud Engineering across all technical functions within Anheuser-Busch’s Tech organization, while collaborating with our global AB-InBev tech teams to build centralized, reusable components.

As a Platform Engineer in the Engineering org, you will work closely with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and fellow Software Engineers within our API, Frontend, and Backend teams to implement and maintain infrastructure, CI/CD, automated testing, and supervising with a code first mentality. Additionally, you will play a key role in shaping architecture and technology decisions, driving innovation and quality for cutting-edge data-driven machine learning systems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

General

  • Work on-site, in office, 3 days per week.

  • Work weekdays, 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, with occasional on-call support during evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Work from home, using a company laptop, for on-call support.

  • Attend daily morning stand-up meetings.

  • Attend guild hours with your peers and any ad hoc requirements gathering meetings.

  • Attend any sprint (2 weeks) planning and retrospective meetings with your pod.

  • Communicate fluently in written and spoken English.

Planning

  • Define technical requirements & design features for engineering delivery managers to review.

  • Solicit feedback on epics and features from delivery managers in order to author high-quality product backlog items (PBIs) after the features are reviewed.

  • Understand the work planned by your peers in their pods to find opportunities for reusability.

  • Mandate code re-use in PBIs to prevent redundancy of engineering patterns.

  • Attend quarterly in-person learning, engagement and planning sessions (LEAP) which may require some travel.

  • Collaborate by providing feedback during product & engineering planning during LEAP to plan the quarter.

  • Always keep PBIs up-to-date and promptly raise blockers to your delivery manager and/or teammates.

Coding

  • Work within an agile methodology, contributing to iterative development and continuous improvement.

  • Design and implement foundational infrastructure components that support all engineering teams in production, ensuring fault tolerance, high availability, and security (e.g., dynamic configuration, secrets management, container orchestration, security testing, and compliance).

  • Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines tailored across multiple engineering teams, ensuring reliability and efficiency in the software delivery process.

  • Implement and maintain infrastructure as code practices, ensuring consistent and repeatable deployments across environments.

  • Supervise platform activity, proactively finding opportunities for cost and performance optimization.

  • Build and maintain reusable tooling for CI/CD pipelines, enabling continuous unit testing, data quality validation, and integration testing.

  • Implement and uphold security standards to maintain platform engineering integrity.

  • Develop and maintain observability systems, ensuring visibility and reliability across the products you support.

  • Establish and document platform engineering standards, practices, and methods to promote consistency and efficiency.

  • Create and handle GitHub pull requests, incorporating feedback to improve code quality.

  • Review and approve teammates' GitHub pull requests, ensuring alignment with standards and maintainability.

Supporting

  • Share on-call support rotations, weekends and holidays.

  • Author root-cause and prevention analyses.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Proficiency in one or more object-oriented programming languages (Python, Java, Go, etc.).

  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, etc.).

  • Git & GitHub fundamentals.
