Overview of the Enterprise Data Office Organization:

Accelerating progress on our data transformation is an imperative for Citi, and over the last several months, we have analyzed what we need to do to make this happen. We are convinced that consistently producing timely, accurate and complete data that we can confidently rely on to run our business is a team sport - one that requires groups to work together toward shared goals.

The goal of our data transformation is clear: to ensure we can generate accurate and complete information in a timely manner, and use that data to inform our business-as-usual operations and our risk analyses, whether for real-world needs or as part of our scenario planning and regulatory reporting. While that sounds straightforward, it’s a meaningful undertaking to move away from siloed and complex processes, legacy systems, and activity-based metrics that have held us back in the past.

Overview of the Role:

The role involves partnering with several key internal stakeholders (Operations, Technology, Banking, Markets, Commercial Bank, TTS, Compliance and Risk) in order to create holistic and strategic solutions that fully support, satisfy, and anticipate the operational, credit monitoring, and reporting needs of the business and our regulators.

The EDO team can be described as a consultancy-style team of Technical Product Managers, Business Analysts, and Data Analysts that are deployed to varying projects across a broad Data Transformation initiative to improve the data quality of key lending data at Citi. These projects require creative solutioning and defining requirements across multiple internal systems.

Responsibilities:

The group’s goal is to ensure we can generate accurate and complete information in a timely manner, and use that data to inform our business-as-usual operations and our risk analyses, whether for real-world needs or as part of our scenario planning and regulatory reporting. While that sounds straightforward, it’s a meaningful undertaking to move away from siloed and complex processes, legacy systems, and activity-based metrics that have held us back in the past.

The team is looking for a growth-oriented and curious senior data analyst who will:

  • Hunt for the right solutions – collaborate with team members, technology partners, and business partners to identify efficient and strategic solutions,
  • Define and own the resolution of issues – manage multiple program streams and develop technology solutions utilizing a strategy defined by the candidate,
  • Drive solutions with evidence – perform data analysis activities utilizing Excel, SQL and/or Python,
  • Be a change agent – review existing processes critically in order to identify inefficiencies and automation solutions,
  • Communicate effectively – create materials to help support the narrative of your programs and provide oversight to more junior BAs authoring formal artifacts such as Business Requirement Documents, CAP closure and Internal Audit documents, and communication materials for senior management and key business partners in the form of PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets,
  • Influence team members by example & through knowledge sharing – mentor junior team members, aiding in their growth as individual contributors,
  • Be organized and timely – have a strong appreciation for regulatory deadlines.

The expectation is for the senior DA to be able to lead various data analysis projects and teams independently from start to finish and provide any necessary documentation and presentation materials related to the project.

Qualifications

The data analyst is expected to have:

  • a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Data Science or Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, or other similar degrees,
  • greater than 12 years of experience working in Data Analytics, Product Management, Business Analytics, Banking Consultancy, or in a different related field,
  • a baseline understanding of financial instruments used by institutions. An understanding of loans products or credit risk management is a plus,
  • advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint,
  • experience with data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, etc., and
  • experience with FR Y14, CCAR, or other credit risk regulatory reporting is a plus.
