Responsibilities:

  • This role is dedicated to the Canning Thoracic Institute.
  • As a leader of the Machine Learning Engineering team, you will work with technical and nontechnical stakeholders to design, build, and manage the infrastructure, platforms, and tools that power advanced technology solutions to enhance medical training, improve quality of care, and enable timely interventions for pulmonary and thoracic patients.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience developing, scaling, or deploying machine learning models
  • Professional experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Ability to drive software engineering best practices and share learnings about theoretical and technical developments in ML engineering with team members
  • Experience providing technical expertise in the design and development of end-to-end technical solutions
  • Demonstrable experience leading the development of reusable common frameworks, models, or components that can be leveraged to solve common ML problems
  • Basic understanding of computer architecture and how it affects software performance
  • Demonstrable experience with version control in a team environment
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and a deep learning framework (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch)
  • Demonstrable professional experience with CI/CD and RESTful APIs
  • Basic understanding of MLOps and associated tools (e.g. MLflow)
  • Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker preferred)
  • A commitment to writing readable, tested, and well-documented code
  • Deep understanding of fundamental computer science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, automated testing, and object-oriented programming
  • Demonstrable experience working independently and managing multiple priorities
  • Comfortable communicating clearly and succinctly with audiences of varying technical backgrounds
  • Motivated by a curiosity for understanding how complex systems work
  • Ability to teach and mentor others

Preferred:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Health care data integration experience (PHI/HIPAA, HL7 FHIR)
  • Familiarity with FDA regulation for software as a medical device
  • Production experience with Databricks, Spark, and/or Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of audio processing workflows and models
  • Knowledge of computer vision workflows and models
  • Familiarity with asynchronous programming patterns
  • Familiarity with GitHub or Azure DevOps
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform
  • Experience with C, C++, C#, or Go
  • Healthcare experience
  • Epic experience
