Reference Data Engineer - Equities Trading Technology Infrastructure

The Trading Technology Infrastructure team at Millennium is responsible for providing shared services to internal trading systems. We are seeking a Reference Data Engineer to join our global development team in the buildout of our strategic real-time data distribution platform. This platform is crucial for storing and distributing reference data from various sources in real-time to support the building of a global order management system.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Management: Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable real-time reference data systems.

• Domain Expertise: Leverage domain-specific knowledge to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of reference data, including user, instrument, and destination master data.

• Collaboration: Work closely with other technology teams and stakeholders across the Millennium technology organization to ensure seamless integration and communication.

• Quality Assurance: Deliver high-quality data solutions with quick turnaround times, adhering to best practices and data governance standards.

• Continuous Improvement: Take ownership of projects and proactively suggest improvements for the entire reference data infrastructure.

Required Skills/Experience

• Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of reference data management within the trading domain, specifically user, instrument, and destination master data.

• Communication Skills: Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and stakeholders.

• Programming Experience: 7+ years of professional experience with data management and integration technologies.

• Database Knowledge: Proficient in database concepts, both SQL and NoSQL, with a focus on data integrity and performance.

• Data Structures and Algorithms: Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms relevant to reference data management.

• Self-Starter: Critical thinker who takes ownership of projects and suggests improvements for the entire infrastructure.

• Continuous Deployment: Experience in building systems with continuous deployment.

Preferred Skills/Experience

• Python/Java: Proficiency in Python or Java for data processing and automation.

• PostgreSQL: Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational database for data storage and retrieval.

• GraphQL: Familiarity with GraphQL for efficient data querying.

• AWS: Experience with AWS for cloud-based data solutions.

Additional Information

This role involves the entire data lifecycle, from requirements and design to implementation and production releases. The new platform will support new business initiatives and decommission legacy infrastructure. Solid communication skills are essential for interacting directly with other technology teams across the Millennium technology organization. The estimated base salary range for this position is $175,000 to $250,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. Millennium pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package.
