Office of the CEO at hyperexponential

Our OoCEO is a small, agile team, led by the Chief of Staff, reporting into the CEO and working closely with the Exec and Leadership team. The OoCEO has a number of responsibilities, including managing the company-wide OKR and KPI framework & reporting, coordinating Board agendas & material, working with the CEO on investor relations, managing ad-hoc projects, and ensuring effective use of the CEO’s time.

The OoCEO leads by example in challenging itself to take accountability for driving meaningful impact and proposing new ideas for improvements with a data driven, efficient mindset, with a small, high-intensity team.

Your Mission

2024 has been a big year for hyperexponential. Our profile is growing rapidly, and our customer base with it (including expanding into the US). We’ve also significantly grown in employees over the past couple of years, scaling up across all functions. The OoCEo has a broad remit, but essentially exists to ensure as a company we’re aligned on our strategy and goals, what we want to deliver, how we want to deliver, and how we’ll hold ourselves to account against our high standards. This is an exciting role, with the opportunity to work across many teams and levels, influencing, delivering, and bringing your own ideas to life. Your mission will be to support the Chief of Staff, CEO, and Exec team as we deliver at pace, against a number of key responsibilities, harnessing / creating data systems and collateral that the CEO (and Exec team) uses to do his job - significantly increasing his productivity and leverage.

Key Responsibilities and outcomes

  • Take ownership of and enhance (automate) the day-to-day running of our OKR framework

    • Key 1-3 month outcomes: co-ordinate monthly updates, analysing the output, building/ sharing reporting, and following up on actions. Propose and drive initiatives to enhance the current approach to drive better outcomes with more timely insight, action, and follow up. Lead automation for building reporting mechanisms and consider new efficiencies and ways of doing things, working with relevant Data/ FP&A team to build the right structures

  • Use AI tools, bots and data-driven technology to improve efficiency and drive CEO level initiatives

    • Key 1-3 month outcomes: focus on use of data, analysis, and reporting. Introduce automation (e.g. use of AI/ bots) to drive more efficiency across any CEO-level initiative within hx. Continuously research and experiment to improve how the OoCEO can add value and efficiency

  • Produce CEO and Exec level presentations for external engagements

    • Key 1-3 month outcomes: Build a playbook and own the creation of CEO and Exec-level collateral for compelling presentations, including quality standards for format and content, and create a checklist for creating different types of material. Demonstrate ability to carry out research and alignment with internal stakeholders. Create and manage an indexed repository for this material that can be shared and leveraged

  • Other:

    • Support the management of our KPI process

    • Support CoS in reviewing and improving our company-wide governance structure

    • Manage ad hoc projects, tasks, and administration where needed, bringing an analytical planning-to-execution approach

    • Work with Internal Comms to develop data driven story telling that can be used for internal ceremonies (e.g. Assembly, Show & Tell, All hands)

The right person for this role will be able to demonstrate that they are:

  • You are very data-driven in the way you approach problem solving and make recommendations and can demonstrate solid experience in the practical aspects of data structure, analysis and reporting

  • You are structured in the way you think, plan, implement and manage ideas, processes, and projects

  • You are demonstrably passionate & evangelical about using AI & technology to build shortcuts, hacks, solutions and conduct experiments to introduce lasting efficiency gains and improved productivity

  • You are excellent at creating top quality presentations, with a very good attention to detail, excellent grammar, use of data, and the art of messaging and story-telling for the relevant audience

  • You thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment, understanding what it’s like to work in a post-Series B expanding scale-up, and can handle ambiguity and ad hoc requests with a pro-active, positive attitude

  • You’ve demonstrated you have a passion for learning - relishing the pursuit of continual self-development

Experience and Skills

hyperexponential is far less interested in counting years over evidence of delivery, and our requirements reflect this.

Must have:

  • Experience in working in a data driven environment, and using BI and reporting tools e.g. PowerBI or Tableau to drive data analysis and insight

  • Experience, and just as importantly, passion and demonstrable enthusiasm, for working with LLMs, prompting skills, and other AI tools and bots

  • Experience in developing top-class, clear, well structured presentations, possibly from experience with a management consultancy

  • Great research skills - with proven experience in taking an ask/ idea from 0 to 1 using various research inputs and tools, and being able to identify and synthesis the key data points/ concepts / hypotheses

  • Experience of having worked in a demanding, fast paced environment with a respect for deadlines and pride on quality of work

Nice to have but not essential:

  • Past experience as a Management Consultant (or Associate)

  • An understanding of project delivery methodology (and potentially a certification from PMP or SAFe or similar) and an appreciation for how software development (Product and Engineering) teams work

  • An understanding of SaaS and the core flow and mechanics from value proposition to sales

  • Working experience of Jira and Notion

Persona

  • Excited to come in to the office 3 days/ week - and based within commuting distance to our London Ministry building

  • High energy and enthusiasm with a can-do attitude and a low ego (you should find it easy to do some administrative tasks in place of the CEO)

  • A desire to level up, we’ll do everything we can to help you get to where you want to go but you’ll drive

  • Start-up mindset of ownership, accountability and scrappiness - happy to get hands dirty when required and lead by example

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • A self-starting attitude: you enjoy managing your own time, within a high-pressure, fast paced and high-support environment. You proactively drive your own personal development and stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and challenges

  • Eager to learn - push boundaries and show ambition for learning and taking on new challenges
