Mō te tūranga | About the Role

Due to an internal movement, we are looking for a Finance Manager Models Development and Assurance. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance Risk within our Finance team, this is a critical role to provide and enhance governance and assurance over Finance and Treasury User Developed Applications, models and AI tools in use or under planning.

In this specialist role, you will support individual UDA/model/AI tool process owners with model risk management activities and provide expert level contribution into optimising reporting and ensuring our key reporting obligations are being met.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Re-build and develop models to ensure key financial reporting obligations are met.

  • Ensure that the AI, Model Risk and User Developed Applications Policy and Procedures are adhered to.

  • Perform independent validations and assurance on key Finance models and User Developed Applications.

  • Apply critical thinking and constructively challenge how reporting requirements are met, documented, and identify and assess gaps that may exist.

  • Foster constructive relationships with Business Owners of the reporting processes, first and second lines of Risk and Finance Systems team.

  • Provide support, advice and training to business users for building, optimising and validation of reports, models and User Developed Applications.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

  • At least 5 years data analytics, model development or validation, model and AI risk experience OR 5+ years in systems accountant role is essential - Required

  • Strong SQL, Excel and technical analytical skills to deliver policy compliance - Required

  • Experience in reviewing models/applications to assess related risks 

  • Knowledge of SAS, TM1 and Power BI is an advantage 

  • Strong understanding of the financial services industry and related regulatory constructs – Advantageous 

  • Analytical thinking, gathering relevant information and interpreting data to solve a problem 

  • Ability to understand how varying scenarios impact different parts of the business both up and down stream 

  • Ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex issues to key stakeholders in a time efficient/sensitive way
