How will I help?
As a Senior Conduct Risk Analyst in Business & Wealth Division, you will support and advise our Risk and Compliance partners by providing in-depth analysis and actionable insights using Westpac’s data and analytical assets.
In this role, you will enhance Westpac’s capacity to provide self-service information to business partners and support the detection and reporting of misconduct, compliance issues, and sales quality. You will manage data using SAS software, offer technical support, and ensure the effective implementation of SAS systems. Your efforts will help mitigate risk, prevent financial loss, and minimize impact on stakeholders and customers.
Key Accountabilities:
- Developing, supporting, maintaining, analytics frameworks to identify, quantify and manage compliance breaches, lending practices and sales quality.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize existing SAS applications, ensuring smooth and efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to SAS applications, systems, and processes.
- Extracting and analysing data using data warehouse and database management software to conduct complex database queries and setting up automated processes for ETL.
- Monitoring and analysis of non-compliant behaviours by detection performance and improvements through the development of rules, automation, creation of mitigation strategies etc.
- Troubleshooting technical and data issues in collaboration with data analysts, and communicating issues to business stakeholders
- Configuring, managing, and troubleshooting batch job scheduling tools such as Fortra, AutoMate, Control-M or ESP
- Lead stakeholder discussions to understand the situation and requirements that enables a problem to be defined with clarity and precision.
- Explore, develop, and maintain analytical dashboards in PowerBi, or Tableau and detection scripts for compliance and conduct risk from various data sources.
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills to translate technical information/insights to non-technical audiences.
- Presenting and articulating the findings back to the stakeholders using visualisation tools and ensuring that learnings are incorporated into future initiatives.
- Assist in the provision of data and analysis to management or any other internal or external users as requested and authorised.

What do I need?
- Excellent programming skills in:
- SAS (SAS certifications) will be a plus.
- Teradata SQL
- SSIS packages
- Excellent Dashboard PowerBi/Tableau dashboard design skills
- Familiar with and have experience setting up automated jobs.
- Experience with configuring, managing, and troubleshooting batch job scheduling tools such as Fortra, AutoMate, Control-M or ESP
- Experience with troubleshooting technical and data issues in collaboration with data analysts, and communicating issues to business stakeholders
- Experience with integrating batch systems with multiple components (e.g. Excel, SharePoint, point-to-point solutions such as Sterling, Unix/Linux systems)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to tell stories about data.
- Clear and articulate communication of technical matters to a technical and business audience
- Collaboration with a variety of technical and business stakeholders in a banking environment to deliver projects and changes of various sizes
- Know-how of R or Python preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of various analytical and problem-solving techniques.
- General banking industry and financial concepts knowledge (Preferred)
- Knowledge of and experience in a Risk analytics or an environment where data analytics provided strategic or operational insight would be highly advantageous.
