Job Description

Business Intelligence Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Business Intelligence Engineer to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence, with a particular focus on Power BI, Fabric, DAX, M, SQL, and other relevant technologies. This individual will play a critical role in transforming data into insightful and actionable business intelligence to support informed decision-making within our finance department.

The role will ideally suit a candidate who has a hands-on approach and the ability to apply their knowledge and experience to derive robust system solutions, together with a strong financial process and control mindset.

The ideal candidate should have an inquisitive systems mindset, with the purpose to support an international finance function, and require excellent communication skills, good attention to detail, broad accounting knowledge and an enthusiastic helpful attitude.

Finance Systems is an area which will continue to see significant future change as we adapt and improve our systems to better meet the diverse operational, reporting and analysis demands.

So, who are we?

Hello, we’re IG Group. No, not Instagram – though we're a pretty big deal ourselves.

We’re a global, FTSE 250-listed company made up of a collection of progressive fintech brands in the world of online trading and investing. The best part? We’ve snapped up many awards for our top-class platforms, forward-thinking products, and incredible employee experiences.

We believe in financial freedom. And our purpose is to help ambitious people achieve it. Around 400,000 people use our groundbreaking technology and forward-thinking platforms to trade the financial products they know and love.

Did we mention we have offices in 18 countries? Yes, when you join IG Group, you'll have the chance to work across multiple brands, with people all over the world. Join us for an exciting future and let’s innovate together!

Your role in the Team

We are looking for Compliance Assurance Analyst to join our Global Compliance Assurance Team. Reporting to Compliance Assurance Manager, you will be working in the Compliance Assurance Team in Krakow and closely collaborating with Compliance Teams across the world. You will contribute to our overall success by involvement in 2nd line monitoring of various business lines (including, but not limited to:  marketing, client services, sales, product design and appropriateness, client money, client reporting, governance, trading and execution, employee training and competence, outsourcing and third parties).

What you’ll do

  • Develop and Maintain Data Models: Create and manage data models using Power BI, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data reporting and analysis.
  • Design and Implement Dashboards: Build interactive and user-friendly dashboards to visualize financial data and key performance indicators, enabling stakeholders to track progress and make strategic decisions.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can drive business strategies and improve financial performance.
  • DAX and M Language: Utilize DAX and M language to create custom calculations, measures, and queries for enhanced data manipulation and reporting.
  • SQL Database Management: Design, develop, and optimize SQL queries to extract and transform data from various sources, ensuring data integrity and quality.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Generate comprehensive reports that provide clear insights and actionable recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the finance team to understand their data needs and provide solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Data Governance: Implement data governance practices to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in business intelligence and data analysis, and continuously seek to improve data processes and systems.

Who we’re looking for?

You’re curious about things like the client experience, the rapid developments in tech, and the complex world of fintech regulation. You’re also a confident, creative thinker with a knack for innovating. We know that you know every problem has a solution. Here, you can try new ideas, and lead the way in creating inspiring experiences for our clients and everyone around you.

We don’t fit the corporate stereotype. If you want to work for a traditional, suit-and-tie corporate that just gives you a pay cheque at the end of the month, we might not be for you. But, if you have that IG Group energy and you can stand behind what we believe in, let’s raise the bar together.

What you’ll need for this role

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or a related role, with a focus on Power BI and SQL.
  • Proficiency in Power BI and Fabric.
  • Strong knowledge of DAX and M language.
  • Experience with SQL database management and query optimization.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Understanding of financial data and metrics
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and provide meaningful insights.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address data-related challenges and provide effective solutions.
  • Ability to work independently showing initiative in identifying problems and posing solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues.
  • High level of attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and reliability & ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with other business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Qlik.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Certification in Power BI or related technologies.
  • Experience in the finance sector or with financial data analysis.

How you’ll grow

Stretch yourself, challenge your self-beliefs and go for the things you dream of.
