Responsibilities:
- Analyze geospatial data to support catastrophe risk assessments.
- Utilize GIS tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS, or other spatial analysis software.
- Work with raster and vector data, performing extraction, transformation, and manipulation.
- Develop and apply geospatial models to enhance risk predictions and assessments.
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to integrate spatial analytics into broader catastrophe modeling frameworks.
- Ensure data quality and consistency across multiple geospatial datasets.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in GIS data science, spatial analysis, or geospatial modeling.
- Strong proficiency in GIS software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, GDAL).
- Expertise in Python and/or R for geospatial analysis, including experience with libraries such as GeoPandas, Rasterio, Shapely, and Fiona.
- Knowledge of spatial data formats (e.g., GeoJSON, shapefiles, NetCDF) and best practices for handling large geospatial datasets.
- Experience with spatial databases (e.g., PostGIS) and distributed computing for geospatial analysis.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
