Principal Solutions Architect – R&D

 This position will report into the Architecture Lead for R&D, and be based in Bangalore, India.

Architecture is a core function in Kenvue Tech & Data (KTD), whose purpose is to increase the strategy-to-execution velocity. We provide technology and strategic leadership to all product teams, lines of businesses, rationalization efforts, and modernization programs across the organization, while helping accelerate digital transformation initiatives. Further, to enhance Kenvue’s competitiveness and achieve our business goals, we support technology-driven changes and emerging-tech adoption.

What you will do

  • Technology Strategy Development: Collaborating with stakeholders to outline a technology roadmap that aligns with R&D objectives, ensuring that solutions effectively support product development and market needs.
  • System Integration: Designing and overseeing the integration of various systems, such as laboratory information management systems (LIMS), product lifecycle management (PLM) tools, and data analytics platforms to streamline workflows and improve data accessibility.
  • Requirements Gathering: Engaging with cross-functional teams, including scientists, product managers, and IT professionals, to gather and analyze requirements for new tools and technologies that can optimize R&D processes.
  • Solution Design: Creating detailed architectural designs for new systems and solutions, ensuring they meet both functional and non-functional requirements while adhering to industry standards and best practices.
  • Data Management: Establishing frameworks for effective data capture, storage, and analysis, enabling teams to leverage insights for product development and innovation.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Acting as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure clear communication of project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensuring that all technology solutions comply with regulatory requirements and quality standards specific to the CPG industry, which is critical for product safety and efficacy.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements through technology, staying abreast of industry trends, and recommending innovative solutions to enhance R&D efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications

 

What we are looking for

  • Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field is usually required. A master's degree or further specialization in areas such as data science, software engineering, or business administration.
  • Professional Experience: Significant experience in R&D or technology roles within the CPG (Pharma, Consumer health) industry is essential. Typically, candidates should have minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including a background in solution architecture, systems integration, or software development.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in various programming languages (e.g., Java, Python), database management (SQL, NoSQL), and familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is crucial. Knowledge of specific tools like laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems is also beneficial.
  • Understanding of R&D Processes: A solid understanding of the R&D lifecycle in the CPG sector, including product development, regulatory requirements, and market trends, is vital for aligning technology solutions with business needs.
  • Project Management Skills: Experience in project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall) and tools is advantageous, as Solution Architects often oversee the implementation of technology projects.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities to assess complex system requirements and devise effective solutions are critical for success in this role.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for collaborating with cross-functional teams, presenting solutions to stakeholders, and ensuring alignment between technical and business objectives.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications in solution architecture (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) or project management (e.g., PMP, Scrum Master) can enhance a candidate's qualifications and demonstrate expertise in the field.

  • Advanced Analytics Expertise: Familiarity with advanced analytics techniques, including machine learning, predictive modeling, and data mining, can be a significant advantage. This knowledge allows the architect to design solutions that leverage data for insights and decision-making.
  • Data Visualization Skills: Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or Quick Sight) can help in presenting complex data findings in an accessible manner, making it easier for stakeholders to understand and act on the insights derived from data.
  • Domain Knowledge: A deep understanding of the CPG industry, including consumer behavior, market trends, and competitive analysis, is beneficial. This contextual knowledge can guide the architect in creating data analytics solutions that align with business needs.
  • Experience with Big Data Technologies: Familiarity with big data frameworks and tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, or Apache Kafka) can be advantageous for managing and analyzing large datasets that are common in R&D environments.
  • Data Governance Knowledge: Understanding data governance principles, including data quality, data privacy, and compliance with regulations (such as GDPR), is important for ensuring that data analytics solutions adhere to legal and ethical standards.
  • Collaboration with Data Science Teams: Experience working alongside data scientists and analysts can facilitate better communication and collaboration, ensuring that the solutions developed meet the analytical needs of the R&D teams.
  • Cloud Data Solutions Proficiency: Knowledge of cloud-based data solutions (like AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Azure Synapse) can be beneficial, as many organizations are shifting to cloud environments for data storage and analytics.
  • Business Intelligence (BI) Experience: Familiarity with BI strategy development and implementation can enhance an architect's ability to create solutions that provide actionable insights to drive business decisions.
  • Change Management Skills: Understanding change management principles can aid in the successful adoption of new data analytics solutions within the organization.
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are important for driving initiatives and influencing stakeholders, as well as for fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making within the organization.
