About Role
We are looking for a talented Senior Tooling Software Engineer to join our team and help improve our internal infrastructure, automation, and developer experience. The ideal candidate is passionate about developing software and great software architecture. They want to use that knowledge to develop and own tooling that is treated as a product. We treat our tooling seriously and you should expect to write well designed software that runs with a high up-time.
Our internal tools are used to fulfill the unique requirements of developing a world class DDoS mitigation software. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain tools that enhance engineering workflows, CI/CD pipelines, cloud environments, and internal operations. You should be comfortable working with both scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and compiled languages (e.g., Go, Rust, C). You will also work with cloud providers (AWS, GCP).
- Collaborate with your team to write software that automates everything!
- Maintain internal tooling that all Deepfield software is developed on.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify pain points and create custom solutions.
- Drive tooling adoption with great documentation and feedback from users.
- Ensure health of all internal systems by measuring everything. (we like stats!)
- Develop and maintain internal tools to improve developer productivity and system automation.
- Troubleshoot and debug infrastructure and automation issues in a Linux-based environment.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure high up-time.
You have:
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Proficiency in Git.
- Experience with at least one compiled language (e.g., Go, Rust, Java, C++).
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
- Strong knowledge of Linux environments and command-line operations.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
It would also be nice if you had:
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- History of driving Developer Experience improvements at past organization.
- Knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
- Interest in new technologies and inquisitive nature.
- Experience leading a team or mentoring other engineers
- Familiarity with common networking protocols and terminology
- Familiarity with network operations (running networks).
