The SAS Federal Government Team is responsible for ensuring our government customers have access to the latest SAS technology, and can use it in support of a wide variety of government missions.  Our team provides sales support to identify use cases for advanced analytics, and then creates compelling demos, customer-facing presentations and other sales artifacts. 

 

 

As an intern, you might:  

  • Research use cases for advanced analytics in the public sector 
  • Develop prototype solutions using structured and unstructured data to demonstrate SAS applicability to public sector business problems 
  • Learn and leverage SAS Viya for analysis, governance, and orchestration of prototype solutions, including capabilities in natural language processing, machine learning, large language models, intelligent decisioning, and visualization 
  • Collaborate with fellow pre-sales resources on special projects 
  • Build relationships with Account Executives 

  

Required Qualifications  

  • Degree Type: Associates, Bachelor’s 
  • Targeted majors: Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Data Science  
  • You’re a college student enrolled in an accredited program, not graduating prior to December 2025.  
  • You've got programing experience in one or more of the following languages:  SAS, Python, or R; or experience with cloud computing technologies, such as Kubernetes, containers, Amazon Web Services, Azure, etc. 
  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.  
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.  
  • Leadership abilities. Your past experiences demonstrate you’ll take initiative and go above and beyond the call of duty.  
  • You’re interested in the future of Analytics and embrace technology.  

  

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Familiarity with UX design, HTML , CSS, JavaScript, Ruby, Swift and other languages and methods to stand up customized user interfaces to interact with analytics results  
  • Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also semi-independently 

 

Location  

  • This team works out of the SAS Arlington, VA office. The preference is for this position to be based out of Arlington, VA
  • There is also the option to be remote or hybrid from SAS HQ in Cary, NC

 

Internship dates: May 20 – August 8, 2025. We can be flexible on start date if your university is on a quarter system.  Internships last 12 weeks in total length.

Pay Transparency: The hourly rate for SAS internships is determined by the applicant’s year in school and the position they are hired into. Hourly rates range from $15 – $31 for associate’s/bachelor’s level positions and $29 - $49/hour for master’s/Ph. D positions. Internship roles are not eligible for bonus.
