The Role:
Medcan is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Business Analytics to play a pivotal role in supporting the Company to make evidence-based business decisions and succeed in our mission to enable people to Live Well, for Life. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will lead a highly visible team and partner with all business lines and leaders of the Company.
Your mission? Leverage data and technology to create business value and support Medcan’s ambitious strategic growth plans. As part of this mission, you will be a player-coach in supporting the business and transforming the Analytics function. You will be responsible for identifying key business opportunities that support Medcan’s ambitious growth plans, uncovering gaps that may hinder sustainable expansion, and providing actionable insights to leadership.
You will be responsible for building a high-performing team, driving actionable insights across departments, and ensuring that Medcan utilizes its data assets effectively to achieve business goals. Success requires effective stakeholder engagement to drive results, ensure alignment and manage expectations.
Who are you? A well-rounded leader that has equal amounts of business partnering, problem solving and technical/coding expertise. Someone who is agile, intellectually curious, creative, commercially oriented, persistent, and passionate about practical applications of data and technology, including traditional BI reporting tools and Artificial Intelligence.
The Accountabilities:
· Lead a 5-person team of dedicated professionals who are responsible for creating and maintaining customer insight, product insight and operational dashboards and models for all functional areas of the company.
· Connect client and operational data to financial results, by better defining harmonized KPIs and comprehensive reporting solutions, dashboards and models.
· Stakeholder collaboration: engage with business leaders, department heads, and other stakeholders to understand their business objectives/drivers. Always anticipate follow-up questions and gain alignment on how results will be delivered. Translate business requirements into actionable analytical insights. Regularly present performance and data-driven recommendations to the business and executive team. Present findings in a way that resonates with different audiences, tailoring insights into their specific needs.
· Prioritization: collaborate with senior management to align analytics initiatives with overall business priorities. Assess the impact and urgency of different projects and allocate resources accordingly. Communicate trade-offs and make informed decisions based on
business value. Look for opportunities to consolidate reporting and eliminate or retire duplicates.
· Support Operations with resource and space planning across multiple sites.
· Lead creative solutions to define, measure and report on a new suite of KPI’s of the Corporate scorecard, such as Client Lifetime Value and frequency of various client visits.
· Dashboard management: complete migration of dashboards from Tableau to PowerBI. Create clear documentation for reporting procedures and data definitions.
· Data accuracy and reporting: collaborate with Data Management team within Information Technology group to establish single source of the truth by understanding the connections between CRM (Salesforce), Financial (Workday), EMR (Electronic Medical Record) and scheduling data sets. Collaborate with data architects to design efficient data pipelines and ETL processes. Regularly audit data sources, validate data quality, and address any discrepancies promptly.
· As the function matures, shift from reporting historical results to building predictive models, working collaboratively with the Digital and Product teams, to support long-term growth and market positioning.
Requirements:
· Minimum 5-years in a leadership role within Data Analytics.
· Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
· Expertise in data visualization, financial modeling, and predictive analytics.
· Hands-on coding expertise with BI reporting tools a must. Power BI experience preferred.
· Proficient in SQL and either R or Python and or analytics in cloud environments
· Working knowledge of Salesforce is highly preferred. EMR solutions are a plus.
· Ability to create and refine Excel models that merge operational data with forecasting (e.g. resource planning, space planning, etc).
· Ability to design fit-for-purpose reporting and analytics and not overengineering solutions.
· Exceptional leadership skills to build an enthusiastic and high-performing team. Being able to lead both experienced, business-oriented team members and less experienced, technical-oriented team members. Inspiring and supporting team members to transform from technical resources to strategic business partners.
· Ability to effectively communicate and seamlessly transition between strategic business, technical and tactical discussions.
· Experience dealing with imperfect data and practical approaches for working with what’s available, while at the same time understanding limitations. Comfort in working with a lack of documentation.
· Comfort working in an entrepreneurial environment and leading the team to be agile (i.e. ability to reprioritize), when required, to support emerging business opportunities or issues.
· Hybrid work, in-office two days a week.
