Position Summary:

  • Communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to assist in the development and document analysis pipelines for calculating essential biodiversity variables and indicators.
  • Review and test analysis pipelines that are contributed by BON in a Box collaborators: read publications and reach out to collaborators and team to understand the analysis, test pipelines with different parameters, fix R and python code when issues arise, and review the pipeline documentation.
  • Regularly test and maintain existing analysis pipelines. This will involve running pipelines in the tool and fixing any code that no longer works due to package or software updates.
  • Assist with coordination of the peer-review process for analysis pipelines.
  • Coordinate and communicate with collaborators who review contributed pipelines.
  • Assist with searching relevant grants and assist with writing and reviewing project proposals.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to quickly grasp new concepts.
  • Fluent in English (French an asset). 
  • MUST BE WORK STUDY APPROVED, McGill University.

Education/Experience:

  • Strong background in ecological theory and methods.
  • Proficiency in R coding and experience with biodiversity data analysis.
  • Experience in R coding, Python or Julia an asset. 
  • Pursuing a degree in biology, data science, or similar field. 

Location:  This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.  The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (4) qualifier on a scale of 0-4.
