Job Description

SUMMARY: We are seeking a Data Architect to both lead and actively contribute to the design, implementation, and evolution of our data platform. This role requires a balance of strategic oversight and hands-on execution, ensuring that our data architecture is scalable, secure, and optimized for rapid experimentation and decision-making. The ideal candidate will be deeply involved in data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration efforts while also mentoring and guiding team members. Additionally, this role will oversee the management of our Snowflake data warehouse through dbt, ensuring data transformation, governance, and efficiency across our analytics infrastructure.

You will be an integral part of an Agile team, collaborating with product managers, designers, researchers, and technical leads to drive Tallo’s data strategy forward.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

•           Design and implement data architectures that support Tallo’s evolving needs, focusing on scalability, security, and performance.

•           Develop and maintain data models across databases, including AWS Aurora (SQL), AWS DynamoDB (NoSQL), OpenSearch, and Snowflake.

•           Lead the design, development, and optimization of data pipelines, integrating real-time and batch data from multiple sources.

•           Manage and optimize Snowflake data warehouse operations, utilizing dbt for data transformation and governance.

•           Collaborate with engineering teams to implement and maintain RESTful APIs for integrating with third-party tools and external data systems.

•           Establish and enforce data security best practices, including encryption (AES-256, TLS), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and role-based access control (RBAC), leveraging OKTA for identity and access management.

•           Ensure data governance policies and procedures are effectively implemented to maintain data quality, compliance, and security.

•           Monitor and optimize data platform performance using tools such as NewRelic and AWS CloudWatch.

•           Work closely with analytics teams to ensure data accessibility and accuracy for tracking user behavior, preferences, and engagement using tools like Segment, HotJar, Heap, and Tableau.

•           Foster a culture of continuous improvement and experimentation by designing architectures that support A/B testing and rapid iteration.

•           Maintain thorough documentation of data architectures, data models, and data pipelines.

•           Utilize strong problem-solving and communication skills to support cross-functional collaboration.
