Process Overview
Capital Markets
The Capital Markets team at GBS in co-ordination with its global counterparts, participates in origination, structuring and closing of High Yield and High Grade Loans, Bonds Offerings, IPOs, Follow-ons etc. The Global Capital Markets business comprises our Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Equity Capital Markets (ECM) and Leveraged Finance (LevFin) businesses. The Global Capital Markets team helps companies and institutions access the debt and equity markets to raise capital to fund their business needs. The team specializes in advisory services as well as structuring and executing financing through a broad range of sophisticated equity and debt solutions
Job Description
The candidate will have dual responsibilities and will need to be a Product and Techno-functional expert. The candidate will support syndication of instruments including providing financial and qualitative analysis as well as assistance in underwriting, committing, and closing transactions.
The candidate will also support activities related to automating business processes for clients by collaborating with functional process owners and business process design teams to identify automation opportunities. They will also get an opportunity to work on functional Capital Markets deliverables.
The candidate will use data science and machine leaning to deliver strategic reports for senior bankers and COO teams. They will help guide our data science projects in the right direction using statistical analysis, building data pipelines, and conducting exploratory ventures.
Responsibilities
Product/Business related
- Possess basic financial/capital markets domain knowledge: Debt overviews including detailed debt profiles, comparable comps, capital structure and financials, IPO targeting analysis etc.
- Create industry-wise (FIG/ENP/CNR/TMT market presentations
- Assist in the origination and execution of equity and equity-linked transactions
- Design data summarization and visualization techniques to convey key applied analytics findings
- Create and maintain client advisory materials and wedges on Equity market interventions
- Have basic understanding of ESG landscape
- Identify scope for new deliverables, ideate and present new ideas to senior leadership and LOB desks
- Work on credit agreement analysis including liens, covenants, pricing grid, ABLs (borrowing base, access availability, cash dominion), swinglines etc.
- Possess basic understanding of / willingness to learn details of bond pricing, yield, spread, duration calculations for weekly projects
- Have knowledge of / motivation to analyze debt ratios like leverage, FCCR, Capitalization, valuation (debt/equity) techniques etc.
Data Analytics related
- Build and apply data analysis algorithms (data mining, statistics, machine learning, natural language processing, sentiment analysis, text mining, etc.) as appropriate
- Help stakeholders make data-driven decisions by working with structured and unstructured data sets; build out predictive models and advise stakeholders on leading practices
- Improve financial status by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends and recommending actions to management
- Examine and assess economic and market trends, earnings prospects, financial statements and other related indicators to determine suitable investment strategies
- Develop quantitative and qualitative analysis to uncover key insights about target investments, mostly in the debt/equity space
- Collaborate with the business to create data-driven solutions and frameworks
- Support long-term Data Science projects including leading advanced analytics and building visualizations
- Communicate data insights in a simple and non-technical manner to key stakeholders and senior management team
Requirements
- Education :Master’s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting or other relevant areas / Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Statistics + MBA / Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Statistics + MBA
- 0-3 years experience in Data Analyst/Statistical Analyst
- Foundational Skills:
- Basic capital markets domain knowledge and willingness to learn and work on “Finance” projects such as debt comparables, capital structures etc.
- Strong passion for financial markets: understanding of or interest in, finance and investments
- Detailed oriented with strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Database experience – e.g. building tables, views, and jobs and experience working with large datasets containing sensitive information
- Fundamental statistics and mathematics (e.g. linear regression, hypothesis testing, probability distributions, etc.)
- Knowledge of building statistical and algorithmic models with complex and large data sets such as supervised statistical learning, times-series analysis, regression analysis, data visualization and deep learning
- Understanding of machine learning concepts (e.g. structured vs. unstructured data, bias vs. variance, scoring metrics, etc.)
- SQL programming skills, data manipulation and transformation knowledge required
- Python, R or SAS, Java/C# and Scala
- Data visualization experience (Tableau, Alteryx)
- Experience using data mining and statistical tools
- Desired Skills: Solid pattern recognition and predictive modelling skills
