The purpose of the role:

We have a great opportunity for a Senior Data Scientist to join our Global Data Science team based in Glasgow.

This role will work within a team of expert data scientists in our Commercial Team, collaborating with our business partners to deliver market-leading capabilities. Specifically, this role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic to help shape how we apply data science to pricing. We are looking for an individual who wants to influence the direction of our projects, experiment with innovative approaches, and learn alongside a dynamic team. 

Key Responsibilities

The key focus areas for the Senior Data Scientist are:

• Proactively explore data to uncover possible trends.
• Develop and evaluate optimization models to drive business performance.
• Design and test methods and approaches to understand how pricing impacts customer behaviour.
• Develop the design of pricing experiments, including A/B Tests, etc, to test/validate key assumptions.
• Collaborate closely with pricing teams to translate model outputs into actionable pricing strategies.
• Lead projects from ideation to product delivery, adopting an MVP mindset while adapting and iterating to optimize results.
• Work with the data engineering team to deploy models into production using appropriate tools (such as MLflow)

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a similarly quantitative field.  
• Excellent numeric and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, passionate about data, data science, and AI with a curiosity about how data can drive better decision making. 
• Strong technical capabilities including coding proficiency (Python, PySpark, SQL or R)  
• Experienced in machine learning, statistical modeling, and optimization techniques (e.g., Time Series Forecasting, Regression, GBMs, Bayesian methods). 
• Strong interest in pricing analytics, market modeling, and demand forecasting. 
• Ability to collaborate effectively with the team and communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders.  
• Strong business acumen with the ability to integrate technical insights into practical, commercially-driven business solutions. 
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to work under pressure, prioritize workload, and continuously improve and innovate.  
• Team-oriented mindset, with a passion for sharing knowledge, supporting others, and contributing to a positive team culture
