The Role

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Open Source team, you'll operate as a founding engineer for Phoenix – our startup within a startup. Working directly with the head of OSS, you'll build infrastructure that powers Arize Phoenix while contributing to full-stack development of user-facing applications.

This role demands versatility – you'll tackle the entire tech stack, you could be working in Kubernetes infrastructure one day and writing core Python primitives to run massively parallel LLM eval jobs the next. You're not just writing code but designing systems and products that will shape how organizations observe and evaluate AI.

What Will Set You Apart

• 5+ years building scalable software systems
• Strong foundation in both infrastructure engineering and application development
• Experience with Kubernetes, cloud services, and container orchestration
• Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and Python
• Track record of shipping production-quality code in fast environments
• Experience contributing to open-source projects
• Ability to take complex problems from ideation to completion

While we are a remote-first company, we have opened offices in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area, as an option for those in those cities who wish to work in-person. For all other employees, there is a WFH monthly stipend to pay for co-working spaces.
