What you will be doing:

The Director works collaboratively within a team of highly Advisory consultants and technology developers to deliver transformative business intelligence and analytics solutions for healthcare systems. This position will be primarily responsible for leading the implementation, optimization, and innovation of an enterprise data warehouse (EDW) and business intelligence (BI) solution for health system clients. The Director serves as a strategic advisor and technical subject matter expert—ensuring continuity, data integrity, and scalable innovation. This role is accountable for the delivery of client engagements, including managing stakeholder relationships, technical oversight of BI development, guiding analytic strategies, and mentoring cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate combines deep Tableau and SQL expertise with strong business acumen and consulting presence to drive data-informed decision-making across complex healthcare organizations. The Director will also participate in business development, practice growth, and internal capability-building efforts. Strong communication skills, executive presence, and the ability to translate data into strategic action are essential.

The Director is required to participate and lead in Premier/Pinc AI internal activities including practice development, required, and approved educational opportunities throughout the year and learning the various technologies Premier offers to its clients. Additionally, the Director should: 

  • Maintain Utilization targets for client billable projects 

  • Create value through meaningful client relationship management, solution development and implementation delivery 

  • Create a team environment by enriching staff skills and knowledge, and create a productive and collaborative environment 

  • Create value for the Advisory practice through meaningful participation in practice related activities aimed at growing and enriching the Practice as a whole or individual Service Lines within the Practice 

  • Actively participate in add on sales activities and new sales business development opportunities 

  • Own relationship with leaders from other Advisory verticals (Supply Chain, Pharmacy, Clinical Enterprise, etc.) to identify innovative opportunities for expanding Premier solutions and automating internal tools

  • Troubleshoot Tableau workbooks, SQL scripts, Excel analyses, Python scripts, etc.

  • Conduct analyses, oversee, and mentor others in the delivery and production of client deliverables

  • Guide and advise team members on analytics processes and provide opportunities for them to grow skills and expertise

  • Support technology platform and database transitions and provide training for others

Key Responsibilities

Client Delivery – 60%

  • Serve as the primary liaison between health system BI leadership and internal teams, guiding stakeholder engagement and analytics alignment to organizational goals.

  • Drive EDW and BI adoption across client organizations, promoting data literacy and analytics-driven culture.

  • Oversee all aspects of project execution including technical development, timeline management, risk mitigation, and deliverable quality.

  • Personally lead and oversee analytics use case identification, development, and delivery—emphasizing high-impact clinical, operational, and financial outcomes.

  • Provide hands-on leadership with advanced Tableau dashboarding and SQL-based development.

  • Support integration of new data domains and source systems, ensuring scalability and governance.

  • Identify and communicate opportunities for add-on sales and broader client partnership expansion

Solution Development – 20%

  • Design and refine scalable analytics solutions that can be leveraged across client engagements.

  • Develop reference dashboards and data pipelines that demonstrate best practices and serve as reusable assets.

  • Collaborate with Advisory leadership and technology teams to standardize delivery frameworks and expand solution offerings.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and methodologies to inform enhancements to existing BI capabilities.

  • Align solution strategy with evolving client needs and trends in healthcare analytics, including AI and predictive modeling.

People and Practice Development – 15%

  • Mentor and coach internal staff and client analysts to build technical proficiency and project leadership skills.

  • Lead and participate in practice development initiatives, such as methodologies, templates, and training resources in data and analytics.

  • Support cross-functional collaboration across other Advisory verticals to expand and integrate solutions (e.g., Clinical Enterprise, Pharmacy, Supply Chain).

  • Help advance internal tooling, automation, and technology transitions as part of broader platform evolution.

Training – 5%

  • Deliver training and mentorship to client teams to advance analytics literacy and encourage self-service BI.

  • Lead development and delivery of educational content on Tableau best practices, SQL validation, and technical troubleshooting.

  • Complete all internal training and certification requirements annually.

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience - 7 or more years

Education:

Bachelors (Required)


 

Preferred Qualifications

Skills:

  • Deep Tableau expertise including performance tuning, dashboard design, and user training

  • Strong SQL capabilities for data querying, transformation, and quality assurance

  • Familiarity with cloud-based BI and emerging technologies (AI, Python, ML)

  • Expertise in business intelligence, statistical, programming, and/or data intelligence tools (SQL, R, Python, Databricks, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)

  • Ability to lead analytics programs from strategic design through execution

  • Excellent communication and executive stakeholder management skills

  • Proven experience developing and mentoring technical and analytical staff

  • Experience with healthcare data sets (clinical, claims, operational)

  • Ability to serve as both a hands-on developer and strategic leader

  • Ability to mentor and grow team members within the Practice

  • Ability to lead work groups to successful outcomes 

  • Experience in analytic storytelling, creating dashboards, and presenting data-driven insights. Ability to storyboard and put analytical summaries and recommendations into client-ready presentations and successfully present recommendations to key stakeholders, including Executives in various environments.

  • Ability to oversee, quality assure analytics and oversee and mentor others in the delivery and production of client deliverables 

  • Ability to synthesize data models and visualizations, provide critical data insights, and communicate final recommendations for engagement deliverables

  • Understanding of data governance, validation, and architecture

  • Coordinate and deliver effective presentations (verbal and written) to client audiences to communicate project outcomes, recommendations, and strategy 

  • Ability to relate to clients and team members in an effective and collaborative manner

  • Demonstrated depth of knowledge in a specific area of expertise (i.e., Subject Matter Expert)

Experience:

  • Experience in Health Systems Finance, Operations (clinical, support or operations), Operational or Strategic Consulting, Strategic Planning or Decision Support Analytics

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams

  • Experience in data collection, cleansing, validation, modeling, analytics, and visualization

Education:

  • Master’s Degree

Working Conditions: Remote


 

Travel Requirements: Travel 1-20% within the US

Premier’s compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier’s internal salary range for this role is $125,000 - $231,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
