The Opportunity
Join Roche’s Global Internship Program in Innovation & Sustainability (#IP2TIS) and be a part of a transformative project that evaluates the power consumption and carbon footprint of CPUs versus GPUs for AI/ML workloads. In line with Roche's new AI strategy and heightened focus on AI, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our commitment to efficient and sustainable AI practices. Here’s what you can expect:
Project Impact: Contribute to Roche’s sustainability and innovation goals by analyzing the energy efficiency of different processing units, providing recommendations that will drive future sustainability strategies, helping reduce Roche’s environmental impact of AI/ML workloads.
Core Project Work: As part of a cross-functional team, measure and compare power consumption, performance, and cost efficiency of CPUs and GPUs, and develop actionable guidelines for sustainable AI infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with ML engineers and data scientists to collect and analyze performance data.
Contribute to the development of a decision tree for infrastructure optimization.
Present findings and recommendations to Roche teams and industry collaborators.
Learning & Growth: Gain hands-on experience in AI/ML processing, sustainability analysis, and project management. Benefit from mentorship and the opportunity to make a real-world impact.
Who You Are
You are enrolled or have completed your Bachelor’s or Master’s studies at a university, preferably in fields such as computer science, electrical engineering, data analysis, environmental science, or related areas within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months and getting to know the pharmaceutical industry.
Required Qualifications
Analytical Skills: Proficient in data analysis and interpretation (Required).
Passion for Sustainability: Interest in sustainability practices and carbon footprint reduction (Required).
Technical Requirements: Familiarity with common AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch and/or Tensorflow) and modern CPU and GPU technologies (Required).
Programming Knowledge: Experience with Python or similar languages (Preferred).
Communication Skills: Ability to present complex data clearly (Preferred).
