Job Description

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
  • Support with the implementation of sound data analytics, data science and data governance processes including:
    • Collaborating with data specialists, functional business experts, project managers, and product experts to ensure smooth collation, accurate reporting, and easy access to data.
    • Designing and maintaining data systems.
    • Mining data from primary and secondary sources and presenting it in a user-friendly format.
  • Prepare reports/dashboards for management that effectively enable data driven decision-making.
  • Conduct and oversee data science experiments in conjunction with business analyst.
  • Automate reports and gather reporting requirements from business end users.
  • Ensure digital literacy improves in the organisation.
  • Value chain analysis within Mining / Processing to identify the dominant constraint & improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with senior and junior leadership on site to identify business improvement opportunities.
  • Drive and implement business improvement projects from beginning to end and verify the claimed value add, forming the foundations of structured BI programs for site.

This role is at band 6 level and reporting to the Senior Manager Integrated Planning & Business Improvement.

Qualifications

  • Diploma / Degree in Engineering, Mining, Processing or a related field
  • Data analytics or data science qualification will be advantageous.
  • Post graduate qualification will be advantageous
  • Valid EB/Code 08 driver’s license

Experience and Technical Skills

  • Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experience of which 2-3 years’ in the Mining, Process, Engineering or a related field within the Mining Industry.
  • Power BI and Tableau experience
  • Database languages such as SQL and python
  • Relevant Business Improvement specific training & operational experience will be advantageous
  • Experience in the use of tools e.g. lean manufacturing and constraints analysis will be advantageous.
