About the team

Mind Company's mission is to build non-invasive neural interfaces - that is, enabling a communication layer between humans and other humans or computers, directly using thoughts.

In pursuit of this mission, our Hardware Team is responsible for building hardware such as EEG headsets that measure brain activity.

About the role

As our Chemical Engineer, you will be primarily focused on developing novel electrodes for our EEG headsets.

You’ll design, synthesize, and optimize electrode materials tailored to the specific demands of capturing high-quality brain signals. Collaborating closely with researchers, hardware engineers, and the CTO, you'll ensure our electrodes meet the rigorous standards required for medical-grade devices.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We're an in-person company, strongly believing that great products are built through direct collaboration.

In this role, you'll:

  • Develop novel electrode materials and coatings to significantly enhance signal quality and user comfort.

  • Perform materials characterization and testing to ensure electrodes meet required performance and durability standards.

We're looking for candidates with the following traits:

  • 2+ years of experience in materials synthesis, polymer chemistry, or electrode development.

  • Strong background in the development of medical device applications.

  • Curious about the brain, and passionate about unlocking human-computer interaction.

  • Strong leadership skills and self-starter, able to carry a project from beginning to end.

About Mind Company

Mind Company is 6-person neuro-tech startup with the mission of building noninvasive neural interfaces. We build our own hardware systems which measure brain data, collect proprietary training datasets, and train useful ML models.

If we succeed, humans will be communicating at higher information rates, playing video games with their mind, and never using slow keyboards again. All without requiring surgery. Join us in making this vision a reality.
