Position summary
The Demand Data Scientist uses data and statistical models to develop on a monthly level accurate statistical forecast. The Demand Data Scientist consistently evaluates the performance of the statistical forecast and is actively seeking opportunities for enhancements. Besides, the Demand Data Scientist is closely collaborating with demand planners to receive insights that might impact the performance of the statistical demand plan. 

 

A day in the life…

  • Develop & sustain data models.
  • Generate monthly accurate statistical forecast.
  • Design and implement continuous improvement actions in the forecasting tool.
  • Support the demand planning team at the market on the selection of statistical models by performing all required back-testing activities.
  • Partner with the Demand Planners to collect inputs that can increase the accuracy of the statistical forecast.
     

What makes you successful

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Supply Chain Management, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or Data Science.
  • A master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field such as Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or Industrial Engineering.
  • Data science qualification. Deep knowledge on building data & quantitative models for statistical forecasting. Programming skills in languages such as Python and/or SQL. 
  • Good understanding of supply chain. Experience in the consumer goods industry or supply chain analytics is a plus.
  • Ideally 2+ years of experience in demand planning statistical modelling (e.g. time series analysis, regression analysis, machine learning algorithms) is a plus.
  • Previous experience with SAS VIYA is a plus.
