We are looking for YOU for a Master Thesis Student (m/w/d) in the area of Innovation and Prototyping (anSWer) for our location in Bietigheim.

Master Thesis: Development of an AI-supported Tool for ODD Description

Background:The Operational Design Domain (ODD) defines the environmental conditions under which autonomous systems can operate safely. A precise and efficient ODD description is essential for reducing testing efforts and ensuring safety. However, manually defining and updating ODDs is complex and time-consuming. To address this challenge, this thesis aims to develop an AI-supported tool that enables automated identification, prioritization, and structured representation of ODD aspects along the V-cycle.

These challenges await you:

• Analysis of existing ODD models and identification of relevant features and constraints

• Development of a structured approach for an AI-supported ODD description

• Implementation of a machine learning-based model for automated identification and prioritization of ODD aspects

• Python implementation using TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, etc.

• Validation of the model using simulation data or real sensor data

You inspire us with that:

• Master’s student in Computer Science, AI, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field

• Knowledge of Machine Learning, Data Science, and Python

• Experience with TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, or similar frameworks

• Interest in autonomous systems, safety assessment, and AI-based automation
