Job Description

The Research Data Analyst II builds on foundational skills to contribute to complex and impactful projects. The Research Data Analyst II will work with larger datasets, uncovering trends and actionable insights while developing dashboards and automated workflows. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is a key component of this role, as is the growing independence in solving research challenges. Experience and skills necessary to optimize data workflows and explore automation opportunities using scripting languages like Python or R are expected at this level. The position requires advanced proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools, along with strong communication skills for sharing insights with technical and non-technical audiences. This position serves as a bridge between foundational learning and advanced analytical problem-solving, enabling analysts to demonstrate initiative and innovation.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Identify and solve problems through data analytics and statistical modeling to provide insight and drive decisions within the organization, breaking them down into quantitative values and analyzing raw data for trends.
  • Present data in a way that tells a compelling story, answers questions, and empowers decision makers to plot the best course of action.
  • Capture, develop, and document data definitions, business rules, and data quality requirements.
  • Develop interactive dashboards and reports using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or other business intelligence platforms to communicate findings effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand research objectives, define data requirements, and tailor analysis approaches.
  • Begin automating routine data tasks and workflows using scripting languages like Python, R, and ETL tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Document analysis workflows, processes, and methodologies to ensure reproducibility and transparency.
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, adapting communication style for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Perform other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree
  • Years of Experience: Required: 2 to 4 years of relevant experience as a data analyst or in a related role OR Master’s degree and 0 years of experience 

Computer Skills:

Required: 

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience with ETL tools (e.g. SSIS, Azure Data Factory) for workflow automation and data management

Preferred: 

  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and statistical modeling techniques.
  • Familiarity with Epic EHR data models and Epic Cogito Reporting Platform.

Equipment:

  • Standard office equipment, including a computer, dual monitors, and other peripherals.

Other Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to extract meaningful insights from large datasets.
  •  Ability to automate routine tasks and workflows using scripting languages.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting findings to diverse audiences.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare data

Pay Range

$70,720.00-$115,627.20 Salary

The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position.
